I don't know about you, but when a credit card card company sends you a brand new card without you even asking for it simply because they "suspect" that the security of your account "may have been compromised," you know the credit card company kicks ass.

Nope... there's only one place I've been to here in Miami, FL that doesn't take AMEX - my gym. For that I use one of my Visas. AMEX has a nice variety of cards for everyone's purposes and offer some really nice buyer protections and benefits for those with the top cards.

There was definitely a case of pantie knotting. =) Dunno why nor do I really care... at least I know that when/if there is a real security issue that they won't ignore it. Besides, my signature had gotten scraped off of the old card from using it so much. =)

Cool. My boss does the same thing to rack up the miles. I was considering doing that but I haven't flown since I was like 3-4 years old. Instead I have the AMEX Platinum Cash Rebate card where I save like 1.5% on all the shit I buy. Comes in handy. Got myself Shell Platinum Visa as well to save 5% on gas. Makes premium gas cheap as hell.

Applied for the 0% apr/balance transfer discover card yesterday. Going to transfer all of my balances to it and buy everything with it until the 0% apr expires. I pay everything in full each month, but I figured that it would be wiser to keep that money saved until the end of the 0% apr intro period and then just pay it all off. Figure I can get myself a free $40-$50 for doing it. Not much, but it gives me something to do... no reason to pay more than I have to. =)

The most badass credit card I've heard of is a blue discover card. There are only a handful issued in the world. We had a speaker at my former university who had one (he took my prof out to lunch.) The guy was apparently largely responsible for the Mexican side of NAFTA.

CREDIT CARDS ARE EVIL. THE EFFECTIVE RATE IS HIGHER THAN THE NOMINAL RATE BUT THEY DONT TELL YOU THAT. NEITHER DOES ANYONE ELSE. NOT TO MENTION THEY ARE MOSTLY COMPOUNDED DAILY OR CONTINUOUSLY SO YOU ARE PAYING INTEREST ON INTEREST. THEY RAPE YOU!!! IF YOU HAVE A NOMINAL RATE OF 12%, THE EFFECTIVE RATE CAN BE AS HIGH AS 12.75%. DONT SEEM LIKE MUCH BUT WHEN ITS COMPOUNDED DAILY, IT ADDS UP QUICK. THATS WHY PEOPLE ALWAYS SAY THAT THEY PAY THEIR BILL BUT IT DOESNT GO DOWN. WELL THE INTEREST IS ADDED TO THE PRINCIPAL DAILY.
