ALA Gut?

newpump

New member
OK - this is an extension of my last post. At the end of the post, several people wrote that ALA seems to give them a mild "ALA - gut" (similar some said to GH Gut). Being new to ALA, I have a few questions, so that I don't end up with an "ALA gut" too!!

1. For those who have experienced ALA-Gut... did you get the symptoms from r-ALA or s-ALA or the "generic" ALA (that is mostly s-ALA I think)?

2. Can you get rid of the ALA-Gut after you stop taking ALA??

3. Do you guys cycle ALA or just stay on it?

Thanks all!

new pump you know who this is I don't think that you need to worry about the so called ala gut the reason is many people use ALA while dieting so since you just started lifting and dieting again since you came back from vacation you'll be fine, just find a good diet to follow...Try that CKD that I was telling you about it's wroking awsome starting monday I will be in the gym at about 6-6:30 everyday so well chat there...later bud..

Thanks bud! I'm just a bit worried about the gut, because I just started (last week) 2 caps of r-ALA per meal (for 3 daily meals). It is amazing stuff, but I dont want an ALA gut to follow. See ya in the gym bro!

Bro i was 1 of them reporting an ALA gut. Even when losing weight it's extremely hard to get rid of that ALA gut. I notice a difference when using and not using ALA. I'm sure what everyone is posting on is the old ALA not the R-ALA. But it makes me wonder if the R-ALA is more potent, it just may give you even a bigger and nicer gut like insulin may give. Personally i think i'm going to stay off for a while and see what happens.

actually quite the opposite.. the issue (if due to insulin) would solely be due to the content of s-ala which increases plasma insulin.. r-ala (by itself shows a marked decrease in plasma insulin).. this may also be part of the reason that the racemic may "force" people into ketosis faster.. theoretically one might want to use the racemic to induce ketosis and then sustain it with the r-ala.. but still theoretical..

ummmmmm, whaT?? Hey macro, can you say that again in lamens terms please?? Maybe I should read it again.

if insulin done be causin da problem
den r-ala be not a problem as r-ala be DECREASIN INSULIN

on da udder hand.. s-ala done be 'creasin that there insulin.. so if insulin be da problem den it be makin it worse..

:p

btw- please excuse my horrendous sense of humour... or leack thereof

Well,

I've been on about 600Mg ed for the past week. I just bumped it to 900mg ed to try it this week. No "GH" type gut, although I am still carrying some extra poundage from my 4 week vacation :p . I'm not sure how long it takes to notice the gut effects of ALA.. but I haven't seem em yet.

Macro - do you think 900mg of the r-ALA stuff is too much?

NO.. not too much... but unsure of the increase in benefits in that jump.. there is no problem with trying it, but cannot say for sure whether there will be significant increase in effects.. though of course it will vary (one must remember that the use of r-ala by bodybuilders/atheletes) is completely new (though we do have the racemic model).. so dosing parameters are going to be a learning experience..

it would of course be interesting to hear your personal results with such a dosage increase.. ie.. increased hypoglycemia, pumps, vascularity.. etc..

I dont get how ALA can decrease fat storages yet give a "ALA gut" at the same time. Usually when you decrease in bodyfat you decrease your gut line also, unless you are anerioxic and only have a few hours to live :D. If ALA is cuasing the gut (or perhaps the abs since it does push carbs into the muscles and the abs are the closest muscle to the stomach) then wouldn't it be temp and stop after you get off of ALA?

Ive been taking the R-ALA for 3 days now. I take 3-4 with every meal I took 5 one time just to see if I noticed anything diferent...but no. I eat 6 meals a day and 1 shake PW. That puts me around 2.1-2.8 grams a day. I haven't really noticed anything crazy or diferent. I haven't ever taken ALA before so I don't have anything to compare it to. But I can tell you- it may work better for some, cause it ain't really doing anything for me. Mabey it take a few days to kick in- I don't know.

how old are you?

ala has little effect in juveniles..(under18 though this may extend to 20) as insulin sensitivity is usually relatively high. though profile says that you are 24... so this probably not an issue..

are you taking any gear?

many steroids impair insulin sensitivity

are you dieting.. bulking.. etc?

dietary composition?

do you get hypoglycemia after use?

more info would be helpful :p

but from all indications there is no reason to take so much r-ala
