ALA and CKD

I have read over the forumn and decided I would start ALA with my CKD on cheat days/Carbup Day (I consider them the same thing). My question is, Is ALA primarily effective on only the Carbup Days? (that is what I have deduced as Yes), and is ALA pretty effective off of a CKD diet (only taken when carbs consumed)?

And what is the primary reason that ALA is effective during the CKD?

I did a little searching and found some answers, but are just wondering on some more oppinions.
