I tried it with both r-ALA and ALA. I was having great results with r-ALA... getting away with some awesome cheat meals... then I tried to offset a pizza and a pitcher of beer with about 1000mg r-ALA (don't remember the exact dose now.) The results were disasterous. All my previous cheat meals... I'd held a little water the next day... but the r-ALA had let me get my waist down to normal by day 2. With the beer... I had to work for 4 days to get it back down to normal.
I tried recreating this with 3,000mg of ALA... same disasterous results... it took several days to get the additional weight back off.
We are going to have an Orange County/Los Angeles gathering of EF posters in the next couple weeks. I'm going to bring enough r-ALA and ALA for the entire group. Hopefully we can get a large group one day sampling of what happens if everybody drinks Coors Lite and supps with r-ALA/ALA.
I'm going to have to label the alcohol results as "inconclusive." Like a dolt I had pizza with the beer. I should have tried just the beer alone. Also, the result was not the same kind of result that I previously got way over eating and over carbing on r-ALA. I was able to sneak by eating two tripple scoop icecream sundaes covered with carmel and hot fudge on r-ALA. Not a big change the next day even in water weight. But... that one pitcher of beer added an inch to my waist over night. Obviously this is too big a gain to just be fat. It had to be a ton of water... but the results just didn't quite add up.
