Age??

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have been working out on and off since I was 16. I have done a couple cycles over the years and made some pretty decenct gains. I recently have become highly motivated to make some more gains and be more consistent with my dedication. I am about to begin another cycle of Test cyp and Winny. I also will continue my HGH 3iu/Day M-F. I just turned 34 and have been hearing some depressing news from some bro's at the gym and just wanted to get some advice from the wealth of knowledge here. Mostly everyone I have talked to say that after 30 you basically stop biulding muscle and can only maintain what you have and stay lean. Can anyone please let me know if this has been your experience or is this just BS. Thanks for any advice.

I wouldn't say that was true, but I would say the older you get the harder it is to mantain and build muscle, at least w/ out help.

I will be 40 this year and I say the info you got is a load of BS. On the other hand I will say that it is harder to gain but you can gain and you can maintain.
I look better at 39 than I did at 22 but it is much more difficult to gain but thats nothing new for me, I have always been a hard gainer.

I will say that a good HRT program has been a big help for me. In the last few years, PCT was a bitch and most of my gains were lost but now when I come off I drop back to my HRT dose and keep most of my gains.

In MHO, dont let bad info keep you from something you want. Do your cycles wisely, eat good, get pleanty of rest, and constantly work on your routine. You will gain and realize your dreams!!

Stay with it,

Now this is what I call encouragement!! It's so true bro, you can't let others ever deter you from your dreams. I know if I listened to people and Doctors I would have never achieved the goals I had because I was born without my fingers on my left hand and was told I would never be able to do this or that. I'm 31 and played sports my entire life and been bodybuilding since I was 14. Fuck all those stupid ass mother fuckers.

Gotta give some Karma for the inspiration ! Way to go man - don't let anyone hold you back !

Very good reply and I agree 100%

It's BS! I started lifting weights when I was 15. Spent 10 years listening to crap that didn't work for me and wondering why I was stuck at 155 lbs and not growing: (E.g. always do 3 sets of 10; you must train to failure every set; always use straight bar for curls, etc.) Man, I did not even start growing until my mid 30's when I finally figured out what worked for my body. On my 40th birthday I benched 390 lbs at 175 lbs. Eight years later I am finally at my goal of 190 at 5'3". I still compete regularly and continue to place well. True, it IS a lot harder to keep ripped at this but your muscle develops a mature, dense look that only age can bring. Don't let anyone tell you different!

I look and feel better at 34 than when I felt I was in my prime of 24....in college...lifting all the time... But...I do triple the amount of sauce....

There is one good thing about being an older lifter. Since you are hypogonadal anyway, you can stay on virtually all year. Plus, your body really does acclimatize to the sides of most AAS.

Please! I'm 44 and I benched 510 yesterday (not competition legal) for a all time personal record. I honestly think my arms are now bigger and better than ever.
Granted I'm running 3 grams of AAS EW, having just ramped it up for the last 4 weeks before a push/pull meet. The worst sides I'm dealing with is shortness of breath, and swamp ass from the Tren, and moderate headaches from the Adrol.
IMO your best years are a head of you, if you can stay free of injuries.

That is a freaking awesome lift, bro! Did you train for that bench as a powerlifter or as a BB? I'm with you on that last point. Over 40 eating good and staying healthy are paramount! No amount of AAS in the world can compensate for a messed up shoulder or knee!

Thanks todoveritas.
I call myself a powerbuilder because I combine the basic priciples of powerlifting and bodybuilding for the ultimate in size and strength.
Presently I focus my bench and deadlift training on single rep strength because of the upcoming push/pull meet.
Yesterday I also pushed 475 with a legal pause and clean lock out. I wore a Titan F6 single ply size 52, that's loose enough to put on myself. I had my training partner tweak the front of the shirt before the 510 touch and go.

Anyone that doubts what the old folks can do, just pick up a copy of Powerlifting USA magazine and see for yourself. Sure some of it's genetics and good luck staying injury free. IMO most of it comes from having 20 + years of experience to build upon. In powerlifting Louie Simmons is living proof. In bodybuilding Vince Taylor is still in awesome shape.

damn you really did do that shit, k to you He-Man :chomp:

What a load of bollocks. I hit the juice and trained hard in my early twenties, thereafter my training went downhill for the next ten years. Just started taking gear again at the age of 32 and have gained much more than i ever did when i was younger. Thats on basically the same dosages. Some people i know only started training in their thirtees and they look awesome. One qualified for universe title only recently at forty!

The main difference to getting old is a lower rate of recuperation from a lowering of vitality. Basically, you slow down a bit and it's harder to get really lean. As for being able to grow... of course you can, juiced or natural.

In addition to all the comments above, I still truly think you get stronger, and probably fuller muscles, up until 27 or so. What I mean is that like from 18-23 there is a big jump in filling out and strength and from 23-27 there is a measureable difference as well. I truly think that is true for even an untrained guy. Continuing that is certainly possible into your thirties and forties with training, food, and rest. When I was 18 I thought I was the shit. Played 4 years varsity fball, all-region linebacker, etc. I got into it with my dad, 46 years old at the time, 5'8" 185 pounds of aging man with belly and a desk job. I was 5'10" 165 pounds (typical high school size) kid and the attitude to back up my small stature on the field, just level guys. Anyway it got physical and my dad gave me an ass whipping that I will never forget. It wasn't even close. I thought I was stronger, faster, meaner, etc. That term "dad strength" is not to be taken lightly. I think you can absolutely still gain, but recovery is the challenge. Sorry for the long post. Holy shit did I get fucked up by him though.
