After the gym I dont eat because its late and I'm afraid to eat late at night before I go to bed.

Should I eat anyway? Something?
 
Something about dont eat three hours before sleep or something...... I don't know. I'm always starving.
 
If it were me,
I would have a pw shake then come home and have some lowfat cheese or maybe some eggs.
 
After your workout, you need to eat something. Even if you're on a keto diet and trying to lose fat, you should have something before you go to sleep. A protein shake or can of tuna would be great.

If you're trying to gain weight then FUCK YES, EAT BOY!
 
i disagree with hansel

if u have a pw shake with carbs then unless it takes over an hour to get home, don't take in fats. A good choice is some protein and veggies
 
perhaps the most critical time to eat is pre and post workouts.
before bedtime too.
 
Hansel is right.....that shit about watching what you eat before bed is the #1 bodybuilding myth..............eat, eat, eat........
 
You really need to have something right after you lift. Take it with you to the gym so that you give it the maximum time to get digested before you hit the sack. Don’t worry about this being stored as fat, your body will be a furnace at this time.

You want high glycemic carbohydrates to create the necessary insulin spike to deal with the catabolic hormone, cortisol, and fast absorbed protein to rapidly restore a positive nitrogen balance, and protein best in the form of Whey, preferably containing some easily absorbed di and tripeptide amino acids will be most effective.
 
All winter long I've been weight training and I've gained alot of muscle..... however now I want to lose some fat but try to keep most of the muscle. I did not know that it was a myth to not eat before you went to bed. I always heard that you should never eat anything after seven or it would be stored as fat - well I stay at the gym late, and Im so hungry I cant sleep!
Thanks guys now I wont feel guilty to just eat a little something healthy so I can sleep.
I did not know it was critical to eat after I workout.
 
Post workout is actually one of the best times to get in the calories WITHOUT them turning to fat, your metabolism is racing and your muscles are screaming for the protein and carbs they need to recover!

Put it this way, try it for a few weeks and see how it feels, whats the worst that can happen? :)
 
I think u should definately eat after the gym even if its late.

I eat every 2 hours so my last meal is usually late anyways.

For example i just had about 8 egg whites scrambled. Left just one yellow and threw about 1/4 pound of honey turkey in the middle...
 
I lift at night as well.
right after I lift, I down a shake w/50g protein, some dextrose and 300MG of r-ALA. get that protein where it belongs!!

then, 2 hours later, right before sleep I down 50G of casein protein for that nice slow digestion.. so my muscles are being fed as I sleep. take it w/some skim milk and you'll sleep like a baby

as long as yuo are hammering the weights, you shouldn't put on much fat (if any) at least in my experience

my fat comes from the pizza I scarf down when I can't take the chicken and rice anymore ;)
