After Dinner Walk???

SO I always work out about 3PM until about 4:30 or 5 and then eat dinner around 5:30-6. Then I go back out and walk on the treadmill for about 45 minutes. Is there any benefit to this or anything that would make it an unwise time to walk. This is an odd question I know, but just wondering. Thanks.

if your walking after dinner to try and burn bodyfat then yes theres a problem, doing cardio right after you eat will not help you reduce bodyfat. If your not concerned with losing fat and are just walking for the cardiovascular benefit then its fine. you need to be doing your cardio right after training or in the morning on an empty stomach to get rid of fat....cardio with a bunch of carbs in your system will only burn carbs, not fat

i disagree.

any time you can burn cals is a good thing. If you do cardio right after food, you will burn mostly carbs (you have to burn off the carbs before burning fat) but then later on you will get into fat stores by normal activity.

Whether you burn the carbs with normal activity and the fat with cardio, or the fat with normal activity and the carbs with cardio, it doesn't much matter.

JMO.

thanks for the replies guys. I should clarify that I lift then do a mroe intense cardio session to try and lose BF, eat a healthy dinner and then due a moderate paced walk. I usually try and burn up 200 calories after dinner with this walk. I actually started duign it because it seemed to help my digestion as odd as that sounds.

Does that change your answers at all? Thanks again!

A great time for cardio is in morning on empty stomach.

you know, about a year ago I tried that and man, I just never could make it work for me. I was always so weak and barely able to keep going and the workouts were pathetic at best. I tried eating a bigger dinner, tried getting up at night and slamming some protein, tried protein before, but my body just does not do that morning/empty stomach thing very well at all. There were a few times I dang near passed out from being so light headed and I felt I was losing ground as opposed to gaining it. After years of sports and weights, etc, I have founbd the best time for me if later on in the afternoon. My lunch is digested, and I'm not quite hungry for dinner yet, and I feel strongest then.

If there is some key I am missing that might help, I am open to suggestions, but I think thats one of those things that just does not allow me to perform at my best.

I chase the ice cream truck around the track. Right around 6:30, perfect timing for an eight dollar bombpop.

THe cardio is ok....walking on morning with an empty is stomach will burn fat....after dinner is good cardio excersice and you'll be burning calories....

i thought you meant that the only cardio you were doing was right after dinner. If your doing your normal cardio after training and then a light walk after dinner thats even better....your metabolism cant help but speed up from that, have at it

Bruce410 told me about the early morning carrdio before you eat, i've ran twice this week in the morning and i think i can tell a little weight loss already, it's fucking A harder to do it in the morning, cause your running on empty hehe

I was always told the same" do cardio on empty stomach and you burn fat" But i have to have something in me or i cant last. What i do is take a shakan hour before cardio. 44 grams of protien 4 grams of carbs. Is it still effective to fat loss....?

Alot of the protein in your shake is probably turned to glucose, but if it works for you it's fine

Keep doing what works for you, your walk afterwards is not hurting, only helping by keeping body temp up, which is keepin metabolism up,, will only help in the long run. I used to run 7 miles 5 days a week prior to 7 am and always had the same issues you spoke of. A trainer told me to eat 2 pieces of wheat toast (plain) and drink an 8oz glass of water before the runs and it did help, I hate running and it didn't help that, but the dizziness and other crap went away from eating like a bird just beforehand. Hope this helps woody :)
