After a 4 year layoff, Am I a beginner again?

I ran a number of cycles up til '97, and have been non since. Am about to "return" and had a few things I wanted to address.

1. Weak/ stiff joints. Will Winn give me what I am needing to repair/improve these weak areas, and should I lay off the gear that will give mee too much strength and risk injury?

If so what type of cycle would y'all recommend? Am I back to beginner stuff?

2. Although I did not get close to BTit's, I felt I did not address the potential probs enough back then, and have a tiny bit of puffyness in the nip's themselves. Taking Dyazide right now to reduce water. Is there any other things avail...that will help?

3.Major area I want to improve body wise are legs/gluts. Is there any program specific to these body parts. Might be a stupid question.........but again maybe not.

I took a 1.5 year layoff because of injuries and other things. Are you a beginner again. Well, yes and no. You will definetely feel like a beginner. You will be really sore the first weeks, but not as sore as when you first lifted a weight.

My advice: take it very easy, and wait at least 4-6 months before using gear again. Let your joints ease into training and trust me you will gain a lot of muscle the first 3-4 months without any gear.

First couple of weeks: do only 2 exercises per large bodypart, and 1 for smaller bodyparts. 5 sets for back, 5 sets for chest, 3 sets for bis, 3 sets for tris, 3 sets for delts, 6 sets for legs.

Lift 3 times a week, and do cardio 2-3 times a week, starting at 20-30 mins a session and working your way up to 40 mins.

Thanks BigA,

I appreciate your input and perspective......by the way, you know where Aurora is.....my old stomping grounds!

No problem.

Just warning you that the first month will be hell, you are gonna feel like such a loser lifting light weights. The worse thing you can do is try to lift hard and heavy right away. Your joints cannot handle it.

If you need any more help feel free to email me.

I'm with bigandy. I also took about 3.5 years off a few years back went cold turkey drugs and lifting at 5'10" 265 about 20%bf. When I came back i trained natural for about 1 year. I started back at 245 and 20+% bf.I dropped to 225 in about 4 months at about 15%bf. Muscle memory is very real you will be surprised at how fast you will be back close to when you quit.

I had quite a few layoff over the last 13 years. Most recent was about 2 years. I got fat and weak, kinda sucked but it came back pretty fast. Lifted for about 6 mo natural and got close to my best stats as far as strength and bodyweight go, but was a little high in BF%.

Correct me if i'm wrong as i have never used decca so i'm not up on what it can do for you. but from what i remember, it's a great one to help with pain in the joints. if the pain is comming from legiments and tendants, than gh is a good one.

i'm not sure if you're returning to weight trainning or just the A/S? if you haven't been training, i'd hold off on the gear. it could be too much for your joints if you just start going back to the gym on gear.

welcome back. . . . :)

I think that Naproxyn would be a better choice for joint pain.

The bottom line is that you should be patient and hold off on the gear as long as you are making gains.

As far as I'm aware one of the best drugs for joint pain and building up ligaments is Deca. Winstrol may tend to aggravate your joint injuries rather than help, but I may be wrong.

good luck

I just came back in january after 97'. I lifted hard and used heavy cycles for 3 years up to 97' I went from 200#, 16 inch bi's, 46 inch chest, 20%bf..etc im 5'10.

After 3 years of hard work and lots of dough...
238#, 19.5 bi's, 50 inch chest..13%bf...
max bech 405, used 335# for reps on bench 6-6-5-5
etc...
I came back in jan...benched 225 for low reps..now im back to 275# for reps on bench..havent used gear lack to dough and supplier....but im going back to the ol' stompin grounds as well..
I can't handle natural....not big enough, not strong enough..
good luck, nevr2big

Thats what I am thinking too.

As far as using AS that will effect your strength and make it harder on your joints....I think you could still take them but move the weight up slow, even if you can lift more. Or try doing more reps of lighter weight. I believe that your muscles dont know how much weight you are lifting, only the tension that they are under so i think you can push yourself without lifting insane amount of weights. Good Luck
