When adding oil to cut gear that has a high BA content, is it really necessary to filter the oil? Im thinking the high BA in the gear should take care of anything in the oil. But Im not a chemist so I need a second opinion.
I'm the one who keeps recommending diluting painful gear with oil. Sometimes I buy sterile oil for as little as $2 for 20ml, other times I buy grapeseed oil from the grocery store and run it quickly through a whatman. One inexpensive whatman can filter a year's worth of oil.
