Accutane Warning!!

May be old news for you guys, howevere watched a show on the sides with accutane and that they are trying to take it off the market. I noticed everyone on this board talking about it all the time so thought I would share the info, Biggest thing was birth defects, 4/10 babies had serious birth defects in accutane users. Be careful and use this as a last resort not to just clear up steriod related acne.

Thanks for the heads up. I've been on accutane for 3 months now, and I just started my first cycle last week. The birth defects is only from girls who take accutane while their pregnant. Thats why on the back of EVERY single pill you take theres a pic of a pregnant girl with a big cross through it. It definately has some sides though, thats for sure.

Okay - let's believe everything the media says. Personally I feel the sides of accutane (and steroids) are way overblown by the media. I've used accutane
several times and while its not pleasant, I know of exactly zero people that
ever turned into a psychotic manic depressant from taking it. In addition,
any user of accutane is required to read extensive literature describing the "possible"
side effects including depression, hypertrigliceridmia, hyperlipidemia, and birth malformities....and they require all users sign a form indicating that they are fully aware of all reported side effects of accutane whether they are proven to be caused by the drug or not. If you think that the manufacturer doesn't make this (possible adverse reactions) clear to all potential users, you're wrong.

But our society seeks a scapegoat for everything, so lets blame accutane.

Doctors wont even give it to women without giving them pregnancy tests. This is just more overblown hype by the media.

Though I will have to say that the sides of accutane are not good, for many, especially those with keltoid acne, it is the only thing that will work.

The media is killing us, doctors are much less likely to prescribe it now than years ago and there isnt new evidence that would make one legitimately believe that it is more harmful that previously thought. Just the negative publicity.

I don't mean to be a dick, but your heads up is ENTIRELY unnecessary - If you've ever been prescribed accutane you'd know what i'm talking about.

I had to listen to a 30 minute speech on the possible adverse effects of accutane and then was required to fill out several forms indicating that fully understood the risks.
And like I mentioned earlier. I know MANY, MANY people that have used accutane
and none of them had any serious reaction, except seriously dry skin.

Right - a script for accutane requires *two* pregnancy tests, and two forms
of birth control. Nevermind the fact that the packaging for accutane has
warnings about using the drug while pregnant everywhere.

Scary. Not that the drug will be harder to get, but the idea of the national registry for acne medicine. That is going way too far. The politicians have no clue what the people who elected them want. This is rediculous.

Fox are you listening? Maybe put something on about how people want less government interference with their private lives NOT more!

Jesus christ. I don't know who I hate more, the media or the morons who believe anything they air. Or the morons who CANNOT READ the 73 times where accutane's packaging states to NOT USE DURING PREGNANCY.

First ephedra, now accutane. I can only imagine what is next
