thanks for any encouragement and help from y'all

I was on that shit. Great stuff. What you are going through now will sooooo pay off when you are done. You look like crap though while on it. You get really pale and may break out a bit. I only broke out for a day (literally). What dose are you on? And there is really nothing you can do about your skin. The only thing you can do is make sure you arent taking any vitamins that contain Vitamin A, or any supplements that might (weight gainer has a good dose of vitamin A). You are just gonna have to ride it out man. Dont be surprised if you wake up one morning and your skin is clear as glass though.

woah woah

im taking weight gainer but im pretty sure there is no vit a in it

its the n-large2 by prolab
currently im on 120mg a day im 6'3 225#
i also take a multi daily twice a day and there is 200% of daily value in each cap....

plz help

GO TO THE TANNING BED......I KNOW QUITE A FEW PEOPLE WHO TANNED ON IT.

KAYNE

how much of a dose were they on and how did they time their intake of it be4 they tanned and what not...

is there anyway i can test it out be4 going to the bed and risking blisters and what not...?

Kayne do you think i'd be alrite tanning even at 120mg

its a 20 minute lie down bed what do you think would be best to use as a start-off time???

thanks,

danks

Accutane is the devil.

I took it when i was 14 for like 8 monthes, and it was hell. Sure it got all the acne away, but i now have scars from where they were (on my chest and back). Doctor told me not to be in the sun, but i didn't listen. If you do... where PLENTY of sunblock. Now i have to deal with plastic surgery pretty soon to get rid of these shits.

Forgot to mention that it made me depressed too. It is known to lead some to suicide, but in very few cases. It really fucks with your head. :(

Ok, listen up. Stop taking thos emulti vitamins. You arent supposed to take any sort of vitamin A when on accutane. Accutane is a super long acting form of vitamin A. You are increasing your chances of side effects drastically. If you do go tanning, go to one of the beds that uses the bulbs that brown you, and dont make you red. Ex: the normal ones use UVB and the others use UVA, or vice versa. You want the ones thatbrown you, not the normal bed. Anbd if you go, go in for a super short amount of time. Like if pople normally go in the bed for 12 minutes (the ones i am talking about are usually high intensity fast acting beds) , then yu go in for like 5 minutes. You have virtually no resistance to the sun while on accutane, so be careful with that. i never did it personally. I was on 80mg a day.

Fair people who aren't on meds will easilly burn the first few times they go to a tanning bed. If it's a 20 minute bed, just go in for 4 minutes MAX since the accutane will make you burn easilly. Wait a few days and see how you respond. Don't use any of the salon product to tan with but follow up with a nice moisturizer...even a bath with Carress soap would work to moisturize your skin. Skin has both good and bad bacteria on it...using antibacterial soap will kill the good bacteria, so avoid it. I just went to a dermatologist and learned this. Using mild soap will help the skin's ph levels which will help the good bacteria to flourish. Most taning salons will have beds with stronger bulbs and some beds will be weaker...ask for a weaker bed because you do not want to burn!

Stay out of the tanning bed while on accutane. It isn't worth it, especially if you're naturally prone to sunburn.

When I took the drug for my mild case of cystic acne, my already low tolerance to the sun became non-existent. I think I was even more pale than normal. I wouldn't go risking a tanning bed.

My acne got worse before it got better. That's what seems to happen with the drug. I got on the drug early, so the bad side effects weren't nearly as bad for me as they could've been. The worst I had it was cracked lips and no sun tolerance. Fortunately I took the minimum dose for the shortest time span. My brother had it the complete opposite, and his got a lot worse for a lot longer. I can't remember the exact time span it took to work for me, because it was quite a few years ago now.

Now, we both have great clear, smooth skin. I get compliments for my skin and people would never know I had acne. Hang in there, because its a great drug and will work in the long-term, despite the crappy sides you may have to put up with.

Dankduke:

I had the exact same problem. Just 2 weeks ago I had REAL BAD acne all over my back & shoulders. I am also going on Spring Break March 15th so i was very paranoid.

My acne is nearly all gone in two weeks! All I have left is the skin color difference where the acne was.

Here is what I've been doing to clear this up and I have tried everything and this was the only thing that actually worked:

1. Exfoliate the skin VERY LIGHTLY using a cream that contains Benzyl Peroxide. (I also use another wash cream with it). Also add some CLEAR anti-bacterial soap. Leave for 1-2 minutes then wash off completely.

2. Use Pantothenic Acid (vitamin b-5) @2500mg 4times per day, last dose at bedtime. As acne goes away decrease dose to 1000mg 3times per day.

3. Tan to even the skin color. Also dries the skin out. Apply an Aloe Vera containing cream/gel afterwards.

4. Up the Vitamin C, Fiber, and water - this will greatly help with creating "smooth" looking skin.

5. gently wipe skin with antibacterial wash before bedtime. Wash skin afterwards.

6. Change bed sheets often or wear a clean shirt each night to sleep in.

7. Whenever washing, pat dry with towel. DO NOT RUD yourself dry with the towel. Also, be sure the skin is completely dry before putting on clothes. Tip: Never scrub the skin hard when cleansing.

8. I also use a lotion of coca-butter & vitamin E. This will help with the scarring and will help smooth the skin.

---That's it. Like I said I have been doing this for almost 2 weeks and I'd have to say I've improved very drastically.

**note: You might want to make sure none of these methods conflict with your Accutane Medication.

thanks for all the great replies guys im going to try about 8 minutes in the bed next time i go

also i have a vitamin A, vitamin E cream ive been using should i stop that as well and just stick to the vitamin E cream?

thanks to all

dankduke

Yes, stop the vitamin A, especially if on Accutane.

I ran a high dose of vit A for ONLY 3 days, however I wasn't using Acctuane.

I'd stay on the vitamin E cream. -I've heard that it works to help the skin complexion and I've also heard it doesn't (thru reports) so who knows. It isn't harmful, so I'd definately try it. Just be sure to wash shortly after applying so you won't clog your pores up.
