Accutane and tanning...

Has anyone here gone tanning while on accutane?
If so, did you shorten the time you went.
Lastly, how much accutane were you running?

I took it when I was a kid and my dermatologist gave me some sort of a prescription strength sun tan lotion. Oh Yeah, I ran the whole 6 month treatment with whatever doses they tell you to.

i took accutane 2 times both times doc said that it was critical to stay out of the direct sunlight for long periods, etc tanning

I have heard the same thing about tanning.
I know some people still do it.
I am running 50mgs a day.
Been doing it for almost two weeks.
So far I am getting dry skin on my face and dry lips.
Being pasty white is not ideal though.

I would try to avoid it, I live in south FL and have a number of friends who have been on accutane. They all had problems with the sun.

i was on prescription accutane for 2 and half years and tanned every once in a while. I think it depends on your complexion. I have olive type skin so my skin took to the tanning well. It didnt make my face any drier and would use a low SPF sunblock on as well as carmex while tanning. Carmex lip balm was the only thing that worked for me and drink a ton of water if youre not already. That will help moisturize. Another thing if you have facial acne get lotion called cetaphil. It's a real light non clogging lotion. that'll help!

No facial acne at all.
I have just had some lingering stuff that shows up on my back.
It is deep under the skin and turns the area into a lump and red.
If I squeeze the area it leaves a scar which is nasty. I just cant leave it alone.
I used B5 for a long time. That quited it down quite a bit. Still there though.
I was more concerned about damaging my skin and things like that. I may try tanning with the carmex as you mentioned.
I drink mostly water all day as it is. I also just started moisturizing my upper body just in case the skin started getting really dry like my face.
I will post up the results of my tanning experience.
Usually when I go I hit it for 12 minutes and don't burn.
