About overtraining

Yeah, I seen a post about how you can tell if your over training... Wher it mentioned something along the lines of "You'll know if you overtrain, the body kinda has a sense in it, and you'll know once it gets there.." Does that mean I can train until I feel like total shit? :D

You can do whatever you want. I opt to try to train through the overtraining but it's not a good idea and eventually I always come to my knees for a week or so. It does help.

Hopefully, you will eventually be able to tell the maximum amount you can train w/o feeling like shit. I assume you have been overtrained before (most people have), so don't you have some idea?

When I am overtrained, I get fatigued very easily. I get that post-squat want-to-puke-my-brains-out feeling too often. I try not to ever get to that point, because it is counterproductive.

I usually gauge overtraining with progress. if you haven't made any progress for 4-8 weeks you need to rethink your workout schedule. For me that usually means reducing the total weekly sets for one muscle group from 12 sets down to 6 sets/week. Sometimes to give myself a break I will do just 1 working set a week just to maintain while moving or finals week or something.
