Abcess in the glute?

I know there are countless threads on abcesses and I never thought I'd be starting my own thread damn it! Did my first glute shot with some new gear and at first I was fairly happy because there was no accute soreness that whole day. over the last 72 hours I've developed a lump that is not huge by any means but significant. The hole area is red and there is some heat when I touch it. The pain is not unbearable but it does hurt to sit down and when i press around the area.. Could this be an abcess? This morning my wife looked at it and said it wasn't worse and i just now started putting a heating pad on it. I took my temperature and everything is normal. BTW, the lump is hard not soft.

Here are the details

1.5 CC's of Test Enthatate 300mg/ml
23 gauge/ 1.5 inch Terumo
*sterility of injection was 100%
gear was UG

you have a sterile abscess, if it is not getting worse then you will be fine, just give it some time and it will go away. If you notice increased swelling and redness in the next few days you need to see your doctor.

o.k., what exactly causes sterile abcess? Will the doc have to drain or prescribe antibiotics? Is the gear possibly dirty?

I ALWAYS get a lump and sometimes depending on the brand of gear a slight redness that goes away in a few days. I wonder if I have been getting sterile abcesses??? I got it with every shot......bump for more info.

i don't know but my bump hurts pretty damn bad. I'm about to call my doc and tell him to prescribe me cephalexin. He's cool like that. He wrote me a script for Lasix last week over the phone.

The lump is the oil not dispursing properly. Just sit on a heating pad & masage it. I even hit it with a masager to get the muscle to relax. you''ll be okay. if it gets soft & when you press on it - it stays indented - then you can get worried.

i had a gigantic abcess (baseball size) a week ago, its gone now. it was all red, looked like it was real bad, so be patient if you feel ok and just wait it out.

1 really hardcore painful massage will do wonders.

I just dealt with this kind of thing a week or so ago. I injected in Glute, but got infection that ran down my Glute into my leg. I ended up going to Doc for anti biotics, but he told me the best thing to use is moist heat. YOu can use a towel or places make heating pads that are made out of beans or rice. Witht the towel you get it wet and then put it in the mircowave for around 3 minutes. Then lay it on the spot. The moist heat transfers into the tissue easier.

I ended up getting antibiotics for mine, but I have the same thing your talking about after every one of my pokes pretty much.

Just put the heat on it, and watch it. If it starts spreading then you need to go to the doc.

Massage and Heat it like 6 times per day if you can do it that much.... It will prob go away on its' own....

running a temperature but it could just be the test. I massaged it and used the heating pad. My body aches also. I'm not stressed about this just yet though. Just took some advil. It's not as bad as the sustanon injection i tried 2 weeks ago where my leg swelled up bigtime and turned red. I tossed that stuff. Figured it was the Benzyl Alcohol or Prop. This is different because i'm using Test Enthatate although it is by same manufacturer. I will continue to massage/use wet heat and see where i am tommorrow.

I think there is also a lesson here in the quality of your gear.

Abcesses don't just happen. They have a cause and since you said very sterile technique one can only surmise the product you injected was at fault.

Wow...what a pain in the arse! Sorry, couldn't help it. Sounds like you have trouble with glute shots so far. maybe try another site? keep eye on temp, goes over 100, get to doctor as quickly as you can. make sure to massage area for a while after you inject. Maybe hot shower or some cardio to get it moving through.

You just ruptured a vein. It gets about the size of a half dollar, hard and painful, then it goes away in a few days. Sometimes you'll put the oil in right next to a vein and the oil pressure ruptures it.

yeah i'm toggling between 99.5 and 100 degrees as far as temperature. I honestly don't feel too bad and the advil has not had time to take affect. the injection site burns a bit but has not changed shape or color since yesterday. I could take a pic but then you'd see my ass. lol

thanks bro. If it wasn't for this board i'd have called my wife and she would have freaked out on me and probably called my parents. lol. I'm just chilling and taking my temperature while watching gladiator. Still 99-100.

temperature is normal and pain is finally less. The massage and heat helped dissapate the oil a little. I'm not even sure you'd call this a true "Sterile abcess" but my increase in temperate and achy feelings for the last few days (which hasn't happend in over a year) was definitely attributed to the test. So should i not worry about the next injection? I plan on doing it in my quad since that is where i started. I'm hoping by going back i won't have a new reaction.
