AAS's without whey pro?

I have been experimented to try to figure out what causes me cyctic acne on my chin. I have realized now after all this time that whey protein is the culprit. I have not been taking any way for a month and face is completely clear, but during my cycle my jaw line was covered with these huge cycsts and I am pretty sure it was from all the whey and or milk. You don;t need to tell me acne is not caused by food, cause I know this to be very untrue regardless of a few flawed studies 30 years ago. I just would like to know if I were to just eat all solid protein next time around with a var only cycle will I grow the same way, or would this hinder gains tremendously. I mean bb's in the past did, so why is it not possible to just eat shit loads of solid protein instead. Having tons on muscle is and looking better then everyone else is nice, but not if you have zits in my opinion...

It could be that your hormone's have stabilized, especially with proper PCT. Try not using milk and whey during your cycle if you want to know for sure. My .02

Dude you basically said it yourself, protein from foods is far superior to shakes IMHO. you will probably make better quality gains getting your protein from foods instead of powder. I could be wrong and if I am someone please correct me.

Its funny, but I came to exact same conclusion with my whey protein. I would notice that I would develop acne after a few days of whey shakes. But yet, I drink milk all day long without and problems.

When I stop the whey the acne goes awhey!

...sorry bout that last part...

YOu can get a lot of protein, more than enough, IMO from lean meats, and dairy. I think that eating 400gms a day is silly. lol. somebody feel free to flame me.

I do not use suppliments, use lower doses of aas than alot of the smaller guys on this board claim to and right now am 5'9" 218 8-9% bf with 19" arms. I think whey protien is a waste of money. I doubt it was a major factor with your acne, but I do not believe in using it.

i'm so happy to read these posts! i always thought i was fucked up beacuse i don't by whey protein! i don't have to money for it, and my parents always keep the fridge loaded with MEAT MEAT MEAT! i eat a lot of meat every single day. i take a egg white shake post workout only... thats my only suppliment.

yo all i can say.. is hot avatar

You'll do fine on whole foods. I buy like $100 worth of protein shakes per year. Just enough that I can use them in case I miss a meal, or to bump my cals every so often. And it's NEVER whey, usually an MRP with a few different kinds of protein.

Anything over 1g protein per pound is just extra cals...so they might as well be carbs (unless you're especially carb sensitive...).

supplements are just that...supplements! If you can get all of your required protein from solid food then you are far better off, however if you can not then supplementing helps tremendously especially whey protein...Because I'm a very busy person, drinking my protein helps me alot so I wouldn't say that whey protein is a total waste of money! As far as the breaking out, it sounds like a some type of food allergy...maybe it's the brand or maybe it's just whey that's something that you will have to figure out, however if you are just seeking a protein to supplement, then you can always try soy or egg!

well it could be the brand, because I did switch and start using some generic protein that bought in bulk off ebay, however I was using ON Whey before and I got the same thing, I just never realized it. I thought it was from my creatine, or from the splenda which i flavored my drinks with, but I never realized it until now. I wasn't really talking about supplementing in terms of having a shake instead of a meal, but mainly I was just talking about post workout. Can I just eat a chicken breast and some oats post work out and still grow, or is it gonna cause problems?

i cant have whey protein becuz it makes my hair look like frizzed hay (dont laugh, & i'm not nutz). i cant have milk becuz of the farting & cramping.
i can't spend hours daily eating boatloads of chicken & steak becuz i have a life.

so whats my answer?
i've tried them all, & theres one company out there that makes a tasty easy to blend & digest 100% egg protein
"HEALTHY & FIT 100% EGG PROTEIN"
- hard to find, but worth it. about $20 for 2lbs

just be sure to supplement with BIOTIN cuz the egg whites severly depletes it and the result isnt pleasent (but not a worry with about 1 gr per about 60 grams protein)

Yeah...you should be fine bro...I'd actually try egg whites because of it's high bioavailability...or steak because it has all the essential AA's.

I actually made real poor gains from my last test/eq cycle coz I was in a 3rd world country and had no access to whey. It was all becasue I could just not handle that much solod food all day. It was 2 roasted chickens, a dozen eggs, and a gallon of milk. Plus whatever food my ma' made

im sure u can get away here in the US with the avalable tuna

Well I just bought some egg protein. I hope this doesn't cause problems with my skin. For protein I am planning to eat 1 container liquid egg whites (60g pro), 4 chicken breasts a day (160g pro), 2 cans of tuna (70g pro), 40g of egg protein, 1lb of steak (not sure), and 1 pack of beef jerky (40g). That should give me plenty of protein, probably around 400g a day. I am pretty sure I can handle this each day.

Watch your sodium intake, depending on what you will be taking. I didn't watch mine during last sust cycle and BP went up quite a bit.

One interesting fact about whole proteins. While Eggs, whey, milk and egg whites score a 1.00(perfect score) on the PCDAAS for protein quality, beef only scores a .92 meaning it is lacking in essential amino acids. So much for being the best bodybuilding food, at least from an amino acid standpoint.

Where did you get this info?

The PCDAAS is the gold standard for measuring protein quality although some scientists believe rounding down values of those proteins, like whey, who have essential aminos above and beyond is a mistake. They believe keeping the full value is important because it shows which proteins are good for combining with inferior proteins.

the animal/fish proteins from all the PCDAAS scores I've seen seem to range in the .8-.92 range. If you're looking for the best amino acid scores from whole foods stick to egg whites, eggs, cottage cheese, and milk.

There have been numerous studies into whether any type of food causes acne - and none of these studies have shown an increase in sebaucus gland size or secreation= based on diet. So the milk and whey are not causing your acne unless your whey is laced with some type of pro-hormone (has happened before.) If you think that diet has something to do with it, this CURRENT view of the american academy of dermatology, dermatologits, scientists and doctors is that there is no link. Studies have been done recently (not 30 years ago), and they all come up showing no link.

Are you taking any type of strong stimulants? Stimulants can cause acne in some individuals.

The only problem with that is not everyone can tolerate dairy products very well, me especially. Though whey protein is pretty stable in my diet as long as I don't include eggs. Milk is totally out of the question! So you are saying that cottage cheese is a better source of protein then meat?

Based on it's amino acid profile alone dairy and eggs are superior to meat. however, that doesn't mean that meat doesn't have other micronutrients that makes their intake advantageous. My milk protein isolate has almost no lactose, I have mild intolerance, and is extremely high in calcium, magnesium and zinc. All of which most American's don't consume in adequate amounts to meet the RDI. It certainly isn't a major issue getting all of your protein from animal/fish flesh but I just wanted to dispel the myth that the protein from tuna, chicken and beef is better than that from protein powders. I would never advocate eliminating meat from the diet and replace it with protein powders. I may have a can of tuna with some broccoli and for dessert I have 28g of protein from a milk isolate shake. The main problem some scientists have with the PCDAAS is that all scores above 1.00 are rounded down to 1.00 which doesn't show how food combining can be used to make protein quality of the meal higher.

gotcha bro....good post....I do miss milk, but what can you do!

potranex I really don't care about what these studies say. They are flawed in my opinion. I know my body. I know for the past 3 weeks I haven't taken a sip of milk, or any whey protein, or anything related to milk. My faces is 100% clear. Previous to this I had a bunch of cystic acne and I was eating 3-4 whey shakes, and 1/2 a gallon of milk. This is not the first time. This has been happening for years, and I never realized it. All other foods have remained the same. Food does not directly cause acne, but it does something to contribute to it. Also I am not taking any stimulants other then cafeine in coffee which I was taking before as well. Even when I was taking Ephedrine my face was clear and that was because I also was eating not whey and drinking no milk. Just because they give 500 people chocolate and none of them get acne in a study doesn't mean anything because those people do not have the same genetic make up as me. Now that I think of it chocolate has milk in it.

 If you say so.

You had acne while you were ON cycle, but now that you're off, your face is clear. HMM. WONDER WHATS GOING ON HERE.
