AAS prevents tendons from strengthening?

Some AAS can strengthen and repair tendons, or even reverse the effects of tenonitis. I know Anavar is known for this, and Deca is known to help inflammation and tissue damage. HGH also helps a ton.

I researched this a bit, and ran Anavar during the summer following the surgery I had to reattach a severed thumb tendon. It definitely helped, as it shocked my doctor that I was able to recover and heal in about half the time that he had expected.

Very interesting. I have nagging tendonitis in my elbows that I've managed to aggravate while on cycle. I'm interested in HGH but the cost and cancer worries have put me off. I have a bit of anavar on hand perhaps I'll give it a go and see if it helps.

I have written articles about this already.

the short answer is when you juice and push your body hard and gain fast then your tendons and ligaments become strained.. rick's example does not apply to 99% of guys out there because those are the guys who have zero base and jump on gear before they are ready and blow up fast and then wonder why their ligaments and tendons start to fall apart.

oh boy let me tell you there is so much to learn before you touch steroids, its amazing how advanced your workouts should be and how much you need to understand how balanced your body needs to be. if you go to the gym and look at these guys who are juicing up its so evident how imbalanced they are.. either they have zero calves and zero legs and huge upper bodies.. some have huge front delts and pecs and zero back and walk around like hunchbacks.. others walk around like peacocks with their chests all puffed out because they have no front to back balance. its a joke.. being unbalanced not only makes you look like a freak but it also will result in problems long term

Steve makes a great point, and I should mention that those that haven't built a good muscular foundation can cause a sever weakening of the tendons and ligaments after running AAS, because their tendons and ligaments simply cannot catch up quick enough to the amount of strength and stress you put them under by not strengthening and building yourself up first. Its one of the many reasons it's important to build that foundation first. I trained hard, heavy, and NATURAL for a long time before touching juice. I'm almost 40 and did my first cycle at 36. So, my tendons and connective tissues were used to heavy weight and workload before putting added stress of AAS use to them.

Many of the AAS out there has a negative effect on collagen synthesis, which makes matters even worse on those connective tissues. Some AAS does help increase collagen synthesis, like said above, but it is still very important to naturally build up that tensile strength of tendons and ligaments, along with muscle mass and strength before going near any AAS

Sorry if me posting this annoyed you steve! I was just curious because I know a large majority of guys using gear are going to do it incorrectly. It's a shame because bodybuilding should be about symmetry and being proportionate. Not only will this help you place better in competitions but also prevent injuries. You're only as strong as your weakest link right?

it didn't annoy me at all!!! I answered your question but there is so much more to it..

you should never hurt yourself lifting weights, but it boils down to ego .. I am not a believer in working in groups for one, peer pressure and trying to push yourself is silly.. saw a guy today working in a group manage 1 rep on 275 pounds for example and he needed help.. what did he accomplish ? nothing.. his friends were all doing 3 plates so he wanted to push himself too much. that's how you get injured.

Yeh, I get sick of the 1 rep wonders myself. They take about ten seconds of pushing that bar up with bad form, and get help all the way up from their buddies. I lose count of all the guys that constantly come up to me and ask "Bro, you are huge! How much can you bench?" I always tell them I have no idea, because I mostly work in the 8-10 rep range. I know I can hit 315 for 10 reps, but no idea what my max is to be honest.

I disagree to an extent. If you work out with guys who are stronger than you, you will be pushed to lift more. You will not be able to f**k around and half ass. You will be motivated to lift heavier weights.

Yes, it can be stupid to deadlift too much, or squat more than you can handle; but force reps on certain exercises, even for one rep, have their time and place.

For several years I worked out with a guy stronger than me, and I used too much weight regularly, with my spotter helping on 2 or more of the reps, but I got strong as F***k.

But your missing the point....if you push yourself thats great but when you push yourself and on AAS your body WILL do more than it can and then you get an injury. You have to lay down the foundation to get those parts of your body ready to handle the AAS.

True, I agree with that. You can see that from Brian Cushing in the nfl. He obviously started juicing in highschool, and now he tears and brakes everything. His tendons were never able to properly strengthen with his muscles.

Both examples are true. Pushing yourself too hard will no doubt result in injury at some point down the road. However, I have always done leg workouts with my one friend who weighs 225-230 and is strong as shit. He will always do a ton of weight so I try to keep up with him for as long as I can. We always use good form so if someone can't get a certain weight we don't force it. I'm much more concerned with proper form and full range of motion than how many plates I have on the bar. Anything worth doing is worth doing right. Poor form will damage your ego and your body.
