AAAAAaaagggggghhhhhhhhhh! Help with avatar issue!

Im going nuts over here.........i go to my profile...click edit avatar....select the "custom avatar" button......click browse, and pick a file that is less than 100x100 and less than the 19kb limit. I hit submit.........and it just kicks me to the "profile" page and doesnt actually change my avatar........what the hell is giong on????
