A simple GH question...

When you start taking GH, I suppose the body will shut down its own natural GH production such as HPTA with AS. Will it start producing again after you quit taking synthetic GH?

GH, as with most hormones work in a pulsatile fashion. There is feedback that will reduce the duration and hight of the pulse (ie amount of GH released) and one reason why many use GH first thing in the morning. The largest GH pulse usually occurs early morning so by taking GH in the morning the goal is to have it largely gone by the time the next main pulse comes along. There is still a lot we dont know about it and some feel there is no feed back while others feel there is, there is also a lot of contention on the duration one feels exo GH will affect normal levels, some say less than a day, other state 72 hours or so. It also varies largely from person to person.

I personally beleive there is feedback and the feedback will last longer than a day. If taking small amount taking it early AM may be enough to minimize the feedback and resulting shutdown but if your on a healthy dose it likely wont matter since the duration of suppression seems to increase as dose does.

Zyg, thanks for reply, but either I couldn't put my question correctly or I couldn't understand your answer clearly...Sorry

What I meant was: Let's say your body produces 1iu/daily natural GH, then you start to inject 4iu/day. Will the body say: "WTF I don't need to work cause I'm getting extra GH so lets stop producing GH and live with the one that comes from outside"

If this is the case (?) will your body start producing GH at normal levels after a 3-4 month GH cycle ? Does our bodies with normal GH producing capabilities resume their original GH release?

I'm asking this since most of the GH sides can be irrversible and GH is a medicine designed towards people with permanent GH deficiency who have to take it lifelong

Yes and no. Thats what I was trying get at. Your body releases GH in pulses during the day. These pulses of GH trigger other hormonal and chemical reactions throughout the body, some happen immidiatly, others take time. There are I beleive 3 well documented feedback loops for GH all of which working at various time intervals. GH levels themselves as well as IGF-1 and FFA's will all have a bearing on how much GH is released and when. The body works in cycles and most of the GH is released early AM on a daily basis with smaller releases during the day. The exact amount, duration and timing of the relase varies a lot from person to person.

Now, if you take your exo GH first thing in the AM and the dose is low enough it, and its effects on other hormones/chemicals in the body, can possibly run their course within a 24hr window allowing for your naturaly high AM GH release to happen unhindered. However, as the exo dose of GH increases so does the duration and its effects on the rest of the system. Higher doses are much more likely to cause extended suppression of natural GH but most studies(that I have seen) show little if any long term effects in regards to suppression. Yes, exo GH can influence (ie shut down) natural production, but once discontinued GH release returns to normal very quickly.
