does anyone know the laws for handguns in NY. Do you have to get a license just to buy one and if so how do you go about this?

I am pretty sure you need to lisense guns in every state. You dont have to get a special permit but there is normally a waiting period where they do a background check and all that.

Not true.

Most mid-western states only enforce the background check laws.

Are you talking about carrying a gun or merely owning one?

You dont need a license for rifles or shotguns in Texas, just have to be over 21, no felonies, etc.

In Ny you need a job that you handle money or something or other to carry a gun. I was just wondering the process I would have to go throw just to buy a handgun.

I would check your states homepage website for info on gun laws.

In Tennessee they do a background check and i think there is a waiting period of somesort.

It is differant everywhere- you cant go by other states- I have a carry permit in FL but here in Cali they dont issue them except to asshole politicians and actors. Basically you just go to a gun store- fill out the paperwork and come back after the waiting period to get your gun. Read here:
