A man was found guilty today of animal cruelty for tossing a small dog to its death on a busy highway after a minor traffic accident

McBurnett, a real estate agent from Nevada, said that after a minor traffic accident in February 2000 the defendant yelled at her, reached in through her open car window with both arms and grabbed her dog.

Soon after, she spotted Leo running across two lanes of traffic, and the dog was struck seconds later. The fluffy white dog died later at a veterinary hospital.

"He was running terrified. I could tell by his eyes," she testified earlier this month. "They just ran right over him in front of me."

News reports about the incident spurred outrage among animal lovers





if this had happened to my dog, that guy would have been a pile of blood and guts after I got finished with him.
 
I'm not much of a cat person, but I don't want them killed - but kill a dog and I would want the person tortured. I don't care about people, they can kill and hurt each other all they want - they should know better - but a dog? they are the best thing on the earth.

I hope the fucker goes to pound me in the ass prison rots.
 
Thanks for your replies. What made me angry was thinking about what would i have done if someone did that to my mom's poodle. I was living in San Francisco when this event happened. Although very sad, I also thought it to be a little hilarious as well. :mad:

just a dog? I push the lines of what is appropriate and not in most of my posts - but fuck you - dogs are my favorite animals. they live to make you happy and are always kind (well, except for the ones that are trained to kill - and even then, they love their masters).
a person should have the better sense to know not to wander out into traffic, or to reason with the dude not to grab them by the neck - but this was a dog - a little one, so it was totally uncalled for for this asshole to do it.

and I'm 100% telling me truth when I say that this enrages me, but if I had heard the guy did the same to the old woman, I wouldn't care at all. I hate people - they all lie and usually idiots - but dogs are great loyal creatures.

In retrospect, the reward fund for a Central Valley serial killer was only 20,000.

I do think the guy should be punished for acting like an idiot, but it's kind of a sad commentary if you ask me.
 
well, maybe if you are not a pet owner, or have ever invested any care into an animal. This article in the Houston Chronicle made me furious, that he attacked a helpless woman by throwing her dog into oncoming traffic so it would get run over. My mom has a small dog like that, and she loves that dog!!! If someone did that to her I would be a killing machine. :mad:
 
I THINK OF MY DOG AS MY SON. IF SOMEONE WERE TO HURT THEM, I WOULD CERTAINLY KILL HIM/HER. IF NOT KILL THEM, I WOULD TORTURE THEM AND MAKE THEM REALIZE WHAT THEY DID. I LOVE MY DOG MORE THAN MOST HUMANS.
 
He should have to pay for the pain and suffering he caused since he was unable to be a man and control himself. 10,000 dollar fine plus revoke his driver's license for 1 year and force him to do two months of community service with the humane society fundraisers.

Okay, devil's advocate time:

Any of you ever had to deal with someone's yappy dog for an extended period of time? Not like yap-yap run off back home, but yap yap yap and never shut up? Ever had one that did this even when you were in your own yard? It can drive you to these thoughts. I don't blame the dogs, they're just dogs. The worst ones are almost always the terrified lap dogs that only shake and piss and yap.

My dogs are cool and are people friendly. If they bark at a neighbor or at someone for no reason, I tell them to shut up. It's the people who don't care to leash them and let them come into my yard and bark at me that get me angry.

Even still, he should have to pay for not only what he did, but for being such a coward as to pick on a small dog. I only wish for a moment that the lady had had a Rottweiler lying down in her backseat when he reached in for the smaller dog. He would've had his hand digested. Suitable penalty for the infantile jerk.
 
I think that shit is hillarious.......I saw the dog on t.v...its was one of those poodle fuckers. I hate those dogs, I think we should throw them all in the street. :kitty: :destroy: :doublefi:
 
I think what the guy did was fucking horrible, but at the same time, I saw a picture of the dog on the tv, and it was one of those annoying, stupid little barking poodles, and the owner was this stupid, snobby, rich, stuck-up cunt.

In some ways I can actually understand why the guy did it.

I think we're seeing a dangerous trend here folks; people are calling for this guy's head with more anger and determination than if this was a case of if he'd shot the woman instead. Think about it this way, if this had been one of my relatives who had her dog killed like this, I would've gotten revenge if the court didn't. If I'd been there, the guy would've either been facing the working end of a .45 auto and/or he'd have gotten beaten up pretty badly. However, what if in some strange chance of fate I had the choice of the dog or the woman...no choice in my mind. A dog is a great pet and I love my dogs as much as is possible. But to say that I'd be angrier if the dog died than an innocent human is disturbing. I get the impression that people here are angrier than they would be if she'd been done the same way.

People are more important to me more than animals. Maybe that's just me. I don't understand why there is so much anger now and yet there was hardly any mention last year of the child that was dragged to death by a carjacker. Now in that particular case, if I'd have seen that I would have stomped the man to death.

Maybe society has gotten this way as a whole. I hate to see that.
 
Yes it does, no argument there. That was not my intention, though. If a criminal is dumb enough to break into a dog owner's house, you better believe I'm rooting for the dog. I was referring to how much sympathy this dead dog has generated when headlines of violence against innocent humans haven't gotten this degree of interest.

I understand your point totally, the only reason i posted this was that my mom has a poodle, so it kinda struck home. I am not saying dogs are more valuable than people. I am saying what this guy did was an act of brutality and should be punished.
 
Fair enough, JimsBBQ. I happen to agree wholeheartedly. Maybe they should put him in as running back for a quarter in an NFL game. I think he might learn something about how un-fun traffic can be when you're smaller. :)

you know a pet is like a child of yours so i can imagine what the lady felt like. i beleive an eye for an eye so throw the bastard in the middle of traffic and make sure im driving so i can hit that puke
