A little trick about pins

Ok.. I ordered a 100 pins 1 1/2 inch awhile back ...

Figuring All my shots were going to be in my glutes.... But after reading more about different injection sites... I found that I should have ordered different sizes....11/2"... 5/8'.... 1' etc. for different sites

Well..... I've found a way to use my 1 1/2" pins for all the injection sites

Do you know the needle cover.... Well, remove it from the needle and just cut off the the tip... which when placed back over the needle, will only expose only part of the needle.....

(You cut the cover to the needle...DO NOT CUT THE NEEDLE)

Then when doing my bicep injection.... I cut the cover to reveal 1/2" of the needle and push the needle in until the cover hits my skin! ..... so the needle is only in a 1/2"

Just did my first bi inject with this method.... works great......

Next time I buy pins I'll buy a variety of sizes, but for now.... I think this will do!

One thing.. sterilize what ever you use to cut the pin cover with... You can never be to careful... when it comes to cleanliness!

Has any one tried this?

I love it, it works great especially because pins are not OTC in California and when I was younger (last year) all we could get were 1 1/2 inch tips. Great post brings back memories:rolleyes:

Sounds like a great idea but personally I would not risk it. Pins are cheap and for 20 or 30 bucks more you dont have to worry about the sterility of the object that you are cutting with.

Hey bro,

You don't cut the needle, just the cover so no need to worry about sterility.

I do this all the time, use the same cover all the time.

Peace

Dr Z...... I figured as much, It was just an added measure, (the sterilization).

People ..You do not cut the needle! I thought I was clear on that.....Just the cover

Torch, I have about 90 or so syringes left.... Didn't want a house full of pins... so I just thought of an idea to use what I have in a semi proper way. .......

But yea, if I didn't have any or had just a few left, then a would go for a variety of sizes....

PS....... OUCH, 1cc in the bi hurts at first...all better now
