I think the term WTF! is entirely appropriate here:

Toys depict Sept 11 attack
From correspondents in Miami
August 28, 2004

SMALL toys showing a plane flying into the World Trade Centre were packed inside more than 14,000 bags of candy and sent to small groceries around the US before an urgent recall.

Error ... the products were urgently recalled / AP

Lisy Corp, the wholesaler that distributed the lollies, said today the toys were purchased in bulk from a Miami-based import company.

The toys came in an assortment purchased sight unseen from L&M Import, said Luis Pedron, Lisy's national sales manager.

They included the toys depicting the September 11, 2001 attack on the twin towers, whistles and other small toys, The invoice said the 9/11 toy was a plastic swing set.

"I hate to blame the importer. He probably did not know what he was getting. He brings them in 40-foot (12m) containers. But whoever made it knew exactly what they were making," Mr Pedron said.

Mr Pedron said Lisy did not notice the small plastic figurines until two people complained, but there was no mistaking what the toys represented - at the bottom of each was the product number 9011.

"When we found out what happened, we recalled them immediately," said Mr Pedron, who said the toys did not reflect the company's view. "I was offended by them."

The company's 100 distributors sent out the candy bags. Most were sold to small Hispanic and Mexican groceries, Mr Pedron said. He estimated about 90 per cent of the bags had been collected.

Anna Rodriguez, who bought a bag of the candy for her grandson, said she was stunned when she saw the toy.

"It makes me angry," she told television station WFTV. "I was offended because I couldn't believe that someone would give something like that to a kid."

Mr Pedron said he was saving the toys to return to the distributor.

A woman who answered the telephone at L&M refused to give her name and said she did not know anything about the toy.

How can you say its just a toy by whats its depicting??
Where are peoples morals??
Should they make action figures that allow you to behead the figure and sell them??
Hey its just a toy, right??

unless they're wearing winter colours in the summer. then it's death.

Morals? What's the big deal? Its just a little toy. A place in between two buildings and the numbers 9011 on it. Sheesh, what if it had 90210, would that be better?

Relax.

Like I said in my the other post, if the toy also had small people jumping for their lives from the building and praying for god to give them wings, then I could see how some people might get offended. But, then again, teachers are switching away from red ink because they offend a well.

If it offends you, then complain and bitch about it. If enough people complain (and they will because people are just rather sensitive), then the product will get pulled.

About your idea for an action figure, I got no problem with that either. Sell it in the market place. See how it goes.

If the public wants to buy it, then let'em. Who are you to safeguard the people from themselves? The next thing you know you'll be censoring Janet Jackon's nip slip at the ... wait a sec...

So that means that toy is obviously sold in other countries and people are buying it. And this manuf. is making good money.

That's fucked up. It clearly shows how little many countries think of 9/11. Perhaps even happy about it.

I must grab one, then resell it in 4-5 years. This thing will be worth some serious money on Ebay, trust me.

Well maybe it hits a little closer to home for me considering it happened right in my back yard.. I saw the second plane hit and I had a lot of friends and family that worked in the building, not to mention friends who are firefighters and police officers(one of whom didn't make it out of the towers).. So sorry if the whole event doesn't effect you but don't try and compare it to a nip slip... Maybe if it effected you personally then you could relate...

For me, to profit off someone elses pain is plain wrong.. It doesn't matter the zip code, area code or anything else b/c its implied what the meaning is.. How many building do you know of that got hit by an airplane?? I would be offended if it happened in another state or country...

Guess you can't completely understand but just like the saying goes "Opinions are like assholes and everybody's got one"...
