2nd Cycle - Deca v. Equipoise

Hoping for some advice.

I'm 31, 5'10", 172 lbs. Been lifting for years, though not always intelligently (like when I started I wasn't eating NEARLY enough).

Anyway, did my first cycle the first half of this year--12 weeks of Test Cyp and Eq. Got up to 185. Not as ripped as I would have liked, but I wasn't doing any cardio and I probably should've been more careful about my diet. All moot coz I hurt my rotator cuff and couldn't lift for about 1.5 months, so I lost almost everything.

I wanna look good for an event in mid-October and another at the end of January. That in mind I am planning my second cycle, and see two options:

1) 14 week Test Cyp/Eq starting mid-October, to be set for end of January

2) 8 week Deca/Test Cyp cycle beginning next week, with 8 weeks off and another 8 weeks after. That also lands me at the end of Jan, but gives me the benefit of going back on now, which I'd like to do.

This time around I'll be doing cardio a few days a week and eating a lot more carefully. My question is, if 15-20 lbs of good solid mass is the goal, is the Deca option a good one? I've never done Deca and am not sure if that's too short, and how much muscle to expect from an 8 week cycle... Or should I just hold off and do the straight 14 week Eq/Test cycle?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
 
I would hold off and do the EQ stack. I like Deca, however, after trying EQ I would probably not look back. Less water retention and with a 14 week cycle, you should get some great gains out of the EQ.
 
Alot of people are going to say it doesnt matter diet is the key; but deca is for bulking and eq is more for leaning out.
