Damn I missed the ass-kicking event... when is the replay. I did get to see Carly kick ass in the individual all around and that made the whole thing worthwhile.

We got beaten in the medal tally again by the US, China and Russia. Three countries with superpower, emerging superpower, former superpower status - as well as a shitload more people than our country. And we beat Germany, Japan, France, Italy and England in the medal count.
17 gold medals ain't too shabby for a country with 20 million people.

Work out the number of medals per member of a countries population........you'll see a whole different list then. It is inevitable that countries with larger populations will come out at the top of this list. But if you work it out as I said you get to see just how gifted the average citizen of a country is relative to citizens of other countries.........

LOL...........yeeeaaaahhhhhh right!!! It is logical that population size would have an immense impact on Olympic performance; more chance of there being a gifted athlete in there. The number of spots per nation is irrelevant..

There are any number of 4.3-4.3 40 timed runners who never learned to catch well enough to pursue or achieve a football career, but who might have made incredible track and field stars.

Congrats to the USA for an excellent score. Alot of great athletes competeing in a great event.
That's true, and maybe I could be somewhat proud of the fact that norway won 5 gold. Not to shabby for a country with only 4 million people, perhaps?
BTW a little OT question, how does your respective countries usually perform in the winter Olympics?

It's kinda funny that almost everybody thinks their own region/country or whatever is the most prominent force on this planet.
I'm gonna let you in on a secret, it's not the americans, it's not the europeans, hell it's not even the human race itself that's controlling this planet. It's a species of small furry creatures, also known as mice. They are everywhere, observing us, watching what we do. And when scientist are using them for experiments, it's really the mice that's experimenting with us, researching the human race. Or so I've read ( I have this excellent guidebook )
So why don't we all just pull our pants up, and stop this "who's got the biggest dick" contest, and try to get along and focusing on the real issues at hand. Let's not revel in our own excellence, or what we imagine it to be. We all have our flaws, and we all have our strengths. Who care's who is who, and who's got what. It's all gonna be history pretty soon anyway. And every empire will fall
