1st job interview - any advice?

mylife

New member
i posted a resume on monsterjobs.com and applied to ~5 different jobs. i figured i had no shot at 3 of them, but they wrote me an email and called to set up and interview, now im nervous...

i've never been to a formal interview. (i'm 19) every job i've ever had was already lined up before i applied.

below is a copy of the email they sent me. i'm trying to figure out if it's an email they send everyone who applies or if they're actually interested in me. it seems to me like they send it to everyone, but i did have to take a 20 question test when applying for the job so maybe i answered those right.

Dear ********,

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Talent Scout and joining the
**** ***** team. I have reviewed your application and questionnaire.
Based upon the information you have provided me to date, I feel you may be
a tremendous asset to the company and would like to schedule a time for you
to interview at our **** office.

I can arrange a time to see you at 10:00am on Thursday, September 26th. Please be punctual.
The interview process can take several hours so plan on being available
until around 4:00pm though the interview process will hopefully not be too
strenuous.

At the interview, we can discuss the entertainment industry,

****** Talent and the positions responsibilities as a *** Talent Scout.

The office dress code is professional.

I do apologize for the short notice and any difficulty this may cause but
this is the only open time available in the next several weeks.

Please reply directly to this email confirming the time so that I can let the
receptionist know to expect you. Please include your telephone number in the
body of the email in the event I need to get a hold of you prior.

Should we offer you a position, I hope you will be available to start
immediately as I have a strong need for a few Talent Scouts. We can discuss
any issues with your current schedule at the interview.

The office address is:
****

If you are not familiar with the area and need driving directions, I recommend
using MapQuest.com. If possible, I will get a confirmation of receipt email to
you before the interview with directions from various points throughout the city.

Sincerely,

******
Asst. Director of Scouting

actually this isn't the sports one. this is a model/entertainer scout. it might be the same scam though.

It is a scam. I checked it out for you. They mass post it twice a week. They've already sent me back my letter to set up an interview.

I told them I was just out of prison and liked to collect doggy porn. I don't think they read my resume too carefully.

ahhahaa. moving on i guess...

job market sucks w/o a degree.

i think i'll just work at a resort here and hopefully get some connections through that.

Hmm I thought it was pretty obvious from the letter that you pasted, that it was a generic response they sent out to you to schedule "an interview." I guarantee what you'll find if you show up is all the other suckers who got the same reponse you did, all showing up at the same time thinking it was gonna be some personal one on one interview. Notice how they can conveniently only schedule that one time because they'll be so busy the rest of the time? And no offense to you, mylife, but do you really think they view a 19 year old with no formal job history and no experience in the talent scouting game as a possible "tremendous asset." Stay away from this one, it has "scam" written all over it.

I hope you know to expect all the assholes here to be sending you doggy porn now. Or was that part of the plan?:D
