10,000th thread on....is lifitng worth it???

Took it easy this week end and reviewed some old footage that I had from parties like Fantasy Fest.

I did much , much better with girtls when I lifted. Absolutely no comparison. But remember that TB is a race horse when he lifts regularly.

Problem is that lifting hard and regulary is a serious commitment that takes a lot of energy and concentration that could be used for making money or whatever.

I don't know if it is worth it. Sure it would be if I was out to get laid by ho's and sluts but that really isn't my bag anymore. All of the calls from girls wanting to be a photo assistant....so they could check me out....got old.

Being in regular shape as opposed to obviously good shape? Not sure that being muscular helps the photography business. Sometimes it helps, other times it prolly aggravates jealosy issues.

Mostly though.....I could spend the time and energy to make money and improve the strenght of my business.

This is something that is always on my mind, but I dont have the answer for you, Ive been trying to find a happy medium, which I believe is what you should try for.

The pic in my avatar was taken in Ibiza. I guess it's what your goals are. Mine are just to look like I workout and that doesn't take that much time away from having a life. :)

You sound like a loony.....which many serious lifters are.

Have fun.

My career is about 100 times more important to me.

Hmm...I don't understand this question. I run my own business and lifting doesn't interfere AT ALL with anything. Making money is the most important thing to me right now, but I still manage to lift 5 days a week and keep my diet strict.

I live in the boondocks and my weight room is still under construction.

Lifting takes a serious comittment for me.....time , gas, distance etc.

Strangebrew....we all had unlimited energy until we fell asleep....when we were less than 40.

That's your problem right there. You need a home gym!

yes, for the health and confidence benefits.

it's a scale, not black and white, not a "yes or no" question.

Actually....health and confidence are not at all what motivates me.

Those are both just fine.

My only motivation to lift is to look better...which is not enough motivation at times.

I lift regularly, but I'd be lying if I said I hit my schedule all the time. I miss days, I even skip days sometimes just because I feel like it. But then I lift for fitness, not to look like Arnold.

If you want a BB physique then sticking to your schedule is paramount, and it must come before anything else in life. If you just want to be healthy and look good, then don't take it so seriously and just have fun with it. And if you miss a few workouts the world won't end. It's a matter of what your priorities are, that simple.

My point was I am not a serious lifter. I own my own multimedia company in Baltimore. My career is very important to me also. :)

Yes...
I've been in lifting withdrawal since my hands starting giving me problems.
If I don't lift. I get fat, my blood pressure goes up exponentially, I lose hope, then die....

test boy i think you are pysching yourself up too much about lifting. it's not that hard to lift 3-4 times a week an hour a session. think about it. you can make good gains with only 4 hours a week. not that much time, everyone has it.
as far as a muscular cameraman being bad for business, i disagree. you would have better command over the peeps you are photographing with the added confidence muscle brings...

lifting keeps me balanced, keeps the chicks coming when you're a dumbass and cannot form coherent sentences when talking to them.

So hell yes its worth it

Is it worth it? Is it worth it...was it worth it when we joined WWII when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

Ok, really...the "iron" is like a girlfriend that will never leave you and comfort you when you are down...Never ever give it up! Trust me...

I just lift to be able to intimidate people and beat the shit out of them if they fuck with me. Haha J/K. I think. ;)

I am not really sure what you’re trying to do with this thread. It sounds to me that you want someone to tell you that it's OK not to workout.

Well it's OK. Not everyone needs to be buff. If everyone was buff then guys like me wouldn't stand out in the crowd. So by all means, don't workout.

Yeah I think that's the gist of it.

Heh....we will see how you guys do when you have:
2 small businesses
2 professional web pages
2 vehicles
2 places

You will feel like you are being stretched in 20 directions. Then...report back to us.

Not to mention the insatiable demands of my dames.

wait a minute....that was a stretch

..then we'll talk.

Sometimes I think the main function of a small business is to stimulate the economy.

Sure...there is cash flow doing the good months but the costs of insurance, advertising, gasoline, supplies etc...................

I have never made a single post under an alter. Not one.

I despise alters and name changes. Almost totally ignore the names I don't have familiarity with.

one hour a day

I know what you mean test boy. I've had times when I've been working too many hours to get enough sleep and need so much focus that I can't afford to be workout-groggy. Naturally, the workouts slip. Sometimes you just have to accept it.

Remember, though, that you are always carrying at least bodyweight around with you and it's not that big a shake to have a few sets of pushups before your shower or do some dips here and there through the day or five minutes of free-standing squats.

It's worth that bit of effort to avoid letting it all atrophy away.

Like I said before I do own my own business. I even travel internationally for some jobs. I know what it's like to have to work hard. I take 1 hour 5 days a week to keep my body in shape. I feel that a strong body is important to my well being. When I am out of shape my mood changes for the worse. It isn't that hard to find 1 hour a day for yourself. If you can't then you need to re-evaluate your priorities.

Yea....got no excuse at all for not at least hitting the floor and pumping out some push ups. Same with squats and DLs when I get the gym finished. I believe one could maintain an acceptable physique....in a pinch....doing those.

I take the dog for long walks to maintain health but the chicks ain't groovin' on my glutes no more.

"My pic is what your goals are"

Tell us about your business where you "even travel internationally for some jobs."

You strike me as a dumb ass. I would like to find another business where dumb asses can do well. Should be easy pickins. :)

Gladly. The main focus of my business is corporate communications. This encompasses interactive CD-ROMs, high-end animations, video, STILL PHOTOGRAPHY, you get the point.

We deal directly with senior management, so we avoid the lengthy approval process that one faces when dealing with subordinates. My business has taken us, myself and/or business partner, to Amsterdam, Germany, Chile, France, Switzerland, UK, Spain, Iceland and Portugal.

I personally specialize in creating the back-end for the interactive CD-ROMs and developing the high-end animations. So I guess you can categorize me as a computer geek.

The bottom line, I am bigger than you, better looking and have more friends.
