    a mind game

I am open - what do you have in mind?? My partner who wrote the workout plan for me wanted to start me out with the basics while I was getting used to all free weights. Which I think is a good place to start. My muscles have had plenty of challange with me learning to balance things...

    a mind game

Yesterday I just did a burnout on the cable resistance machine to work my hamstrings at the end of my workout because I could tell I hadn't worked them. So I am not really sure what to do for hamstrings. As you know, I am still doing squats with the smith's. Maybe that should be my focus...

Yesterday was my first day of doing real deadlifts. Up until yesterday I had been doing RDL's. Um yeah, today my lower back FEELS the growing pains from yesterday's workout! It makes me happy though, becuase I need to strengthen my lower back. I guess I just recognized a motivating factor...

    a mind game

I guess was just wondering if my mental bored or lack of motivation has anything to do with my body getting used to the exercises. Is it necessary to start doing different exercises and movements all together? Or should I just change order, sets, days, reps, etc. . .

Are there any averages? I mean, typically, how often should you change routine to keep your muscles challanged so that your body doesn't get used to the exercise? Or does depend totally on the person?

There are a lot of experienced lifters here - what do you all do when it isn't easy to stick with it? I started my current split about five to six weeks ago, and it seems like it is always about five to six weeks into it that I lose ALL of my motivation. I KNOW what I have to do, all the...

    Q for Spatts

Thanks - I'll try working with about 50-60 low and 150-160 high for awhile. It will still be a stretch for me becuase for the past three weeks I have been taking in about 190 g carbs every day! wow. I really don't want to lose weight - I just want to replace the fat weight that I have with...

    Q for Spatts

Spatterson - I printed off the advice you gave tsut in her first thread. I am sitting here before bed trying to plan my food for the week and thought I may try your carb rotation plan. One question for you. I think I understood it right that if I am supposed to have .5g of carbs per kg of...

    Advice for newbie

by the way Spatterson - you were telling tsut about good total body movements . . "Bench, squat, deadlifts (back), and goodmorinings are GREAT total body movements. " (sorry - haven't learned how to quote people yet :)) what are "goodmornings" ? Did I understand that right, or am I out of it?

    Advice for newbie

Welcome Tsut. I am about at the same point as you are - as far as body type - and have been trying to decide what I want to focus on between trying to gain muslce or decrease body fat. Spatterson, along with many of the other gals here, has a lot of good advice that has helped me out so far...
