For Stilleto...a grammar pet peeve...

ok, webster's dictionary calls it a word. Here, ill copy and paste it again for those too slow to pick it up the first time:

the most frequently repeated remark about it is that “there is no such word.” there is such a word, however. It is still used primarily in speech

thats from websters dictionary. Just because you think you know something doesnt make you an authority. You see those websters people? They are an authority. You? A stereotypical know it all woman who will look at a red rose and say it isnt red just because you need to. When you are an enlish language specialist/authority, then come and correct me. As of now, the language authority has deemed irregardless a real word. You are wrong. Wrong. You. Are. Wrong.

tim-meh!

lol chill the fuck out. Seriously, you need to wipe the sand out of your vagina.

Dictionaries occasionally add a word when it is used enough. But originally it was an incorrect blending of two words. Dictionaries only added it in the 60's and it's only used in US dialect. It may have been accepted later on as a word, but only because people insisted on using it.

Deep fucking breath, dude. You're making personal attacks over GRAMMAR. Think about that lol.

Regarding "Irregardless"

While it is certainly a commonly heard word, its usage is considered substandard because the word is illogical. "Regardless" already means "without regard," so when we add the negative prefix "ir-," we create a double negative. In essence, we end up saying "not without regard," which means, of course, "with regard"--the opposite of what we intend.

Using the word "irregardless" is an easy mistake to make. After all, we say "irrespective" to mean "without respect to," so it is natural to jump to the conclusion that "irregardless" means "without regard." But the difference between these two words is the suffix "-less," which itself makes "regardless" negative.

My last post here, since timmmay decided to mo it up lol

There's a nice link explaining the illogical use of irregardless and why it essentially is a double negative that ends up meaning "with regard" instead of the way people use it (intending it to mean regardless)

It is of course, regardless ir negates the previous as does the word but. I really had a good time, but. Which means I did not have a good time. People that say IRREGARDLESS I mean really, like saying. "Wer fixinta go to da sto yantacum"

Learn latin and all these pesky little prefixes and sufixes become simple.

So you sir are correct. That one word makes the culprit very trailer trash.

Then the new word "Conversate or reconversate" is now acceptable. geeeezzzzzz, learn to speak English!

dont be a know it all know nothing and well be fine. the fucking dictionary says its a word - regardless of your description, which means when someone uses it they are not incorrect in their terminology - and you think because you say so im incorrect? me providing proof of its being a word as categorized by websters dictionary means using it does not make someone incorrect. please, get over yourself. its in the dictionary. fact. its categorized and defined as a word and should be accepted as is defined.

I'm not being a know it all. I'm just being correct. lol

(timtim to attack personally again in 3...2....1)

Seriously, I was having a little fun with you before. You know, playful banter. I have opinions, and I have gramatical reasons for those opinions, but the vitrol only came into the "debate" when you decided to go on the attack. You need to get laid or smoke up or something. This is way too trivial a topic to be so nasty.

Okay, this is probably only in Kentucky with the Hillbillies but,

My secretary says "So, I wretched over to get the scissors."
I'm thinking, "You wretched? Must have been a very harrowing experience." :lmao:

She also says that she "Sawl" things. There is no "L" in "saw", woman!

Just continue to laugh at her behind her back, that's way more funner.

How bout woulda? or "bout" for that matter?

Woulda coulda shoulda, I got no problem with those. They're just slang, not outright ungrammatical. "Would of" makes no sense, it's an ignorant misunderstanding of "would've", which is short for "would have" not "would of".

As for "'bout", that doesn't bother me either. Nor does "'course".
