Post what you think are the 5 top foods to avoid

Here are mine in no particular order:

1. Non Diet Soda
2. French Fries
3. Potato Chips
4. Pastries Dognuts/etc
5. Candy
My GF and I argue about this all the time she says that Diet makes you fatter because of all the sodium. I say she's nuts, I hate to see her starving herself to stay thin and then drinking a regular mountain dew after her tiny plate of food. I wish she would listen to me.
What are your top 5 foods to avoid?

My husband won't drink diet soda, but he's a competing cyclist--he burns that sugar up in about 2 minutes!

I drink so much water, like everyone else posting here, that sodium has little chance to linger in my system. (I saw your post on the women's board, and it's hard to convince skinny but fat (high BF%) people.

I have trouble staying away from:

Butter slathered on anything
Cheese
Chips of any type.

-Regular soda
-"fat free" snacks (i.e., extra sugar)
-potato chips
-French Fries
-White bread

These are just a few things that I'll never eat (or drink), just because they're NEVER really a good thing.

-alcohol
-cheddar cheese doritoes
-high fat hot dogs/sausages
-cream filled donuts
-corndogs

I'm sure there is worse but anything worse I probably wouldn't consider "food" LOL

Hehe, this is a cool thread. I was just reading some fast food nutrients and Cyberdiet.com, and from my research, these are the DEVIL foods:

1. McFlurry or Dairy Queen frozen yogurt w/ oreos, m and m, and other goodies
-- god, i love this treat. Too bad one cup is like 600 calories and 80 carbs.

2. Omlettes
-- yes, yes, Essential fats and protein. But the calorie content in one of these babies is outragaeous. Think i'm kidding, look in the Denny's section in cyberdiet.com, and check for omlettes. Unless they cook like 6 eggs (1 whole egg is 90 calories) in one large omlette, the calorie content is around 900 calories. I rather have chicken or steak.

3. Fried Chicken w/ Skin
--Oh god. Just look at the skin. Its oily, fatty, and weird white shit that look like the ooze/puss from pimples. But fuck, it taste soooooo good.

4. Double Whooper w/cheese and mayo
--mmm. microwaved meat and soggy bun. But hey, with 1010 calories, its just half of the daily recommended allowance for a normal person.

5. Cheesecake
--i love this treat. Its just good. But for many, the thought of eating a whole cheese cake is unbearable. Melted lard...mmm.

Oh yeah,
I my experience, excess sodium will make u BLOAT up.

Last year for three months, i would consume cole-cut meats on three seperate intervals during the day. Needless to say, the excess sodium made my stomach appear to be "overweight." By cutting the sodium, i noticed immediate size differences.

Hydrogenated Fats
These are mostly man-made fats that are used in bakery items and stick margarine. Studies show that it isn't so much how much fat there is in your diet that causes problems, as what kind of fat, and hydrogenated fats are the worst. Avoid buying cookies, crackers, baked goods or anything else that has hydrogenated oil on the ingredient list. So far, hydrogenated fats don't have to be listed on the nutrition panel as saturated fats do, but the Center for Science in the Public Interest is campaigning hard for the FDA to require it.

Alcohol
This one item has created more problems than all the rest put together. Of course, it is possible to consume alcohol wisely and safely and enjoy it immensely, such as a fine glass of wine with a delicious dinner. But even if you exercise caution in no other area of your diet, this is the area where you should.

Saturated Animal Fats
That means fatty meats, especially beef and pork, or the skin on poultry. It also includes full-fat dairy products such as cheese, milk and cream. Fatty meat and dairy products do have some contributions to make to a diet, but none that can't be found elsewhere.

Soda
Drinking soda is a poor way to get fluids. They are full of sugar or artificial sweeteners and often contain caffeine, artificial colors and flavors. Substitute homemade soda by mixing sparkling water with fresh, 100 percent juice.

High-Fat Snacks, Chips
Even if they are made with vegetable oil, they should be minimized. The balance of fat in our diets has shifted too far to the omega-6 variety, found in most processed vegetable oils. It is thought that too many of these fats may be leading to certain chronic diseases. Instead, focus on fruits and non-fat whole grains for snacking.

Those are my picks!

the very worst thing for me of all things is bubble gum...I love the stuff but if ever there was empty calories that must be it.
Other than that, I happily keep away from alcohol, butter, fast food and non-diet drinks.

1. Fat Free foods!! All these overweight people buy into that crap and it is not going to work!

2. Alcohol

3. Fast Food (anything)

4. Soda

5. Sweets

I stay away from any fried carbohydrate foods like french fries, donuts, and chips. I don't exactly know why, but these seem to be the worse.

Oh and those small snack cakes like little debbies are lethal.

Krispy Kreme Fudge frosted glazed Dougnuts
I would kill my sister for some

Carmel Delights Girl Scout Cookies
thank god only once a year

KFC Xtra Crispy Fried Chicken
yes!,yes!, the skin baby...

1. (Pizza) did you know I saw on TV that a slice of a pizza hut peperoni pizza had over 600 calories! Thats one slice! Imagine choking down about 5 slices of pizza and a couple of cokes.

2. Mexican Food

3. Cheese

4. Alchohol

5. Fast Food

1. bread
2. fruit
3. pasta
4. regular fat dairy products
5. anything that tastes good with sugar in it, LOL
this list is of course when you are cutting

Peanuts (unsalted there not too bad but not when you eat the entire large container)
Its just too easy for me and so hard to avoid walking by w/o grabbing a handful and that handful endlessly results in me going back for yet another handfull.

I'm a sucker for Peanuts/Peanutbutter
and Anything covered in Tomatoe sauce (chili/pasta), at least thats not too bad since It generally has to be cooked up 1st. so its not always around to tempt me.

Ha. pizza. I ate an entire domino's deep dish with sausage, pepperoni, extra cheese, and anchovies every night for a year straight. I got fat. :)

1. Bacon
2. Soda
3. doughnuts
4. potato chips
5. snackwells anythings (any no fat synthetically enhanced, prservative filled dessert item)

Arnold, "Keep looking."

hahaha. This is when i was sucking down 6 cans of regular soda a day, in addition to a cheeseburger and fries for lunch.

Sheeit, did I need a wake-up call. ;)

Pizza is another one of my Gotta Have's.
If you ever watched them make pizza at the HUT, you would understand why they are the worst for Fat. They hold the empty pan up to this big pump thing and load up the pan with Oil. Then they lay the dough into it and all that grease cooks into the crust. That's why it's So good and Sooo Bad.
I gotta have pizza every once in a while, and found that veggie pizza cooked bare on a brick oven is the least bad for me. Pizzaria Regina is my favorite. crunchy crust..yumm

What's wrong with carbs? Why does everyone hate carbs? You NEED them. They're good for you. Very good. Did you know that you're brain doesn't function right without carbs. I believe it's less than 60 grams. Without carbs how do you get energy? And they don't make you fat. That's the dumbest bunch of shit I've ever heard. Excess calories make you fat. Not carb calories. Not fat calories. All calories. If you ate nothing but fat-free(doesn't really exist, but for the sake of this example let's say that it does) protein all day to the tune of 18,000 I guarantee you that you would get fat. You won't shit it all out, like some people say. Caloric excess is caloric excess and caloric excess makes you....dum dum dum...FAT! End of story. Nothing wrong with carbs, goddamit! If you can't tell, this is one of my pet peeves. I hate the vilification of carbs.

I can't beleive all you guys talkin bout
Pizza Hut and Domino's! That is the nastiest
tasting shit I ever ate!! I mean it's like the fakest cheese and the sauce tastes like
catsup. Ill, I am getting sick just thinking
about it.

1.SODA (Diet or Regular!!)
2.Cheese
3.Fast food
4.Cake and/or Pie
5.Candy

I have NO problem eating peanut butter though. Don't beleive that it's bad for you!
Currently doing about 2 jars Natural a week.

Blue Cheese Salad Dressing
Fast Food/French Fries
Hamburger Helper (yuk, yuk)
Donuts
Cheese Sticks/Jalipeno Poppers
Hot Wings/Pierogi

Hehe, yeah this is a very fun thread. I got a few questions about everyone's lists, but first, my list.

1) Mini cookies (oreos, mother's, fudge shoppe, famous amos, etc.)
2) Chips
3) Little candies (m&ms, skittles, etc.)

Well that's all I can think of now. I didn't put the pizza and fast food stuff cuz all that stuff is easy to avoid. --for me at least-- It's really the snack stuff that kills everyone. One or two may not seem like much harm...but they're sooooo addicting. Your second and third servings turn into your seventh and eighth, and you don't realize that you've eaten so much until you reach for just a few more (that you promise to be your last ones) and the box is empty.

For all the above lists...

Well yeah the Pizza Hut, Domino's, Round Table, etc. pizza is pure crap. Try making your own pizza and you've got the best thing in the world. Now this takes a little time --waiting for the dough to rise and everything-- but it's so worth it. You can regulate exactly what's on the thing, the oil you complain about on the pan, the catsup-tasting sauce, etc.

Why is alcohol listed so many times? I don't know about anyone else, but I need a hardcore party once a month (I've limited myself) to just go all out and forget about all the shit that's happened in the past month. And if anyone has ever had Smirnoff Ice...I fucking live for that. Beer? Eh, not so much...I can live without that. But Smirnoff? Oh I just could never. How does that hurt your diet?

I used to eat about 2-4 large pizza hut pizzas a week for 4 years and drink about 10 beers a night five nights a week and never exercise.

I started at 150 and hit 200 in 4 years. I guess it could've been worse, but now I've woken up and only drink once every 2 months or so (and I don't get wasted). But eating right is the hardest part.
