I'm 17 years old, and my friends tell me that lifting weights (working out) will slow, or stop me from growing. My friends tell me that I should wait until I've fully grown like when i'm 18. Are they right?

You're fine bro. The only thing it will make you do is GROW muscle. 17 is a prime age to start.

Your friends are definately wrong on that subject. As mentioned, you are at the prime age to start. Take full advantage of it and give it everything you got.

You're friends are wrong. I started when I was 14-15 and have been growing fine. People tried to tell me I'm still gonna stunt my growth. Those are the people who are afraid to train hard and heavy. Usually the skinny punks too.

Ditto. Are the football players at the school all stunting their growth. How about college players that may still be growing until they're 20 or 21? Your buds don't have a clue...
