I was watching wrestling today and came across this guy named Chris Benoit and this other guy, some american athlete. These Guys necks looked wider than their head! I think a thick neck looks very impressive. My neck is only 17" or so. But it would be cool to have it bigger. I tried lying on a bench with a plate on my forehead but its so awkward to do. I guess my basic routione should build these up eventually right?

I bought a head band thing that was weighted for my neck from www.boxing.com I used it and got decent results from it. I ain't sure what else could help.

What you want is a neck harness. I've been using one for about 5 months and my neck as gotten a lot thicker. They recomend using it for football players and wrestlers. It's a leather 3 piece strap with a buckle and a chain hanging that you thread through the weight/s you want to use. I think it ran me like 20 bones. It's awesome though. I usually do it after I hit shoulders.

I just focus on my traps, which will thicken up the back of the neck. And the plate on the head and basically do crunches with my neck instead of abs... and it's thickening my neck up pretty good.

Heavy shrugs for your traps should thicken you neck up.

Steelsoldier, I'm with you about that 19+ neck. The bitch of it for me is that it's hard to find dress shirts that fit. I've consigned myself to going to Big&Tall type stores. aka Fat Guy Stores. Got any luck finding stores that say, offer a more flattering cut with the big neck? Thanks, pal.

A big neck is impressive, but for bodybuilding purposes, i think it can detract from your shoulder width, and overall proportion.I've about a 17 - 17.5 inch neck and i've never done any direct training for it.I wouldn't try to build it further unless i put on some serious size in the shoulders.I have to admit though, a big neck does project power.

I wouldn't be to concern about neck to a extent as long as your not a pencil neck

My neck is 18.5 unflex and I can't find dress shirts that fit right in most cases.

So most of my untaylored clothes look like a bedsheet (Fit good uptop but huge around the waist)

This is an exercise we did in my submission wrestling training that works very good for strength and helps add a little size. Lay flat on your back bring your chin up to your chest and back down just before it touches the ground then ear to shoulder both sides with your head slightly elevated off the ground and finally turn your head side to side. Try to work up to around 50-100 reps each way never letting your head touch the ground.
