i mean a regular diet in terms of none of that atkins crap or any other diet lowering carbs to almost nothing. just a normal day to day thing that won't be hard to do without starving. dr

well, it depends. The ama has a breakdown that includes 65% carbs and 15% protein. Although that might work well for a marathon runner, it doesn't really work well in the bb communities. Too, people don't always react the same way to carbs: you may be someone who needs more or needs less. On a mixed diet, you need to determine #1 what your maintenance calories are #2 how many grams of protein you need #3 how your body best responds to fats and carbs. ..so, say that your maintenance calories are ...1700. Then you would probably want no less than 30% from protein so that you can continue to grow in the gym. That leaves you with 1190 calories to come from fats and carbs. If you initially split that 50/50, then your average carb intake per day would be about 148.75 grams with 66.1 grams of fat.

You try that for about a week and then make adjustments.

40/30/30 works well for me...though I notice most days I'm more like 45/30/25....
