I have been thinking alot why women don't eat and where their reasoning gets screwed up. First I want to make sure that I understand how this whole muscle, protein, fat, carb thing works - is this right?
Protein is the thing muscles are made of
Carbs are the fuel that runs the muscle
Bodyfat is like a spare gas tank
When you tear the muscle by working it the only thing that will repair it is protein
Bodyfat cannot be converted into muscle only into enery to run the muscle
If this is correct I think this is where most women (or at least me) made the mistake in the way they look at food and lifting. I spent alot of time under the false? impression that if I lifted my ass off that all that excess bodyfat would somehow be forced into turning into muscle so the less I ate the more progress I would make.
Its okay - call me a dumb bitch!!

Not at all, its common thinking.

I sort of think of it like, you have to feed the muscle for it to grow, but you have to feed it the right stuff

Pizza Man - I appreciate what you are saying but truly its okay - I don't REALLY look at myself that way, have plenty of self confidence but it is kind of cool having someone react like you did.

I think you have effectively and quite concisely put into words what A LOT of women (and men, believe or not) truly believe! So this would then make you A DAMNED SMART BITCH! I use the word bitch for two reasons:

A) You have the courage to step outside of yourself and admit a mistake (although you were a bit harsh) even though you might be ridiculed (by small-minded individuals).

B) Bitch is usually a title that men and women bestow on a female they feel threatened by, and what kind of female would tend to make others feel threatened and intimidated (through no fault of her own)?
a STRONG CONFIDENT female.

You never learn unless you go looking for the answers. I don't think anyone who has been misinformed about BBing in the past is dumb. Hey, look at how the media twists all kinds of information in order to make headlines. Nutrition and exercise being a constant newsworthy story. Don't eat this, eat this, take this, don't take this. Do cardio, go for the burn, don't do too much cardio. It's no wonder the average Joe is so confused.

Read all you can and keep asking questions. You go girl!

That last statement did come across as a bit harsh (better go back and read Warlobo's post for new users ) Started typing it and had a husband standing behind me demanding a phone line so I didn't finish why I was so frustrated with myself. I have been getting alot of feedback on diet and training over the last few days - all of them telling me to EAT! I finally gave in and although I didn't understand the why of all that protein consumption when God knows I have plenty of spare fat that needs used up, I was prepared to do it on blind faith (trust me, that is not something I excell at). I was sitting at my desk when it was like someone had just turned on the lights!!! and I couldn't believe that after all the reading and all the questioning I had done that it had just never sunk in . I understand exactly what you are saying Bikini Mom - bitch is not something that I feel is necessarily a derogatory term and is a personality trait that I have found quite usefull in certain situations.
