Since my last post got flamed immediately, I decided to delete the thread and ask a more specific question...I also apologize for my nasty retort, but I didn't think it was warranted.

The biggest problem I have from getting to where I want to be I think is alcohol. My friends and I love to drink on the weekends, and I know it definately hinders my goals for my body.

If I were to go on a ketogenic diet during the week, and carbo load on the weekend, couldn't I, in theory, drink alcohol during this loading phase? I know this is gonna sound half-assed to a lot of people, but I really wanna get in good shape without killing my social life. (Though, I've definately cut down the amount I intake, and that has helped me leaps and bounds)

Bro, I can't really help you with this one but, I can say that I love to party, I love to go out and get messed up and sit at the dinner at 4am. I could go to the clubs or bars and drop 400 bucks a week with no problem. But when I started to train I cut it all out. I have one jack and coke on a friday and that is about it! No more partying no more dinner at 4am.... If you can do both good for you... I couldn't do it. I dropped 50lbs. from not partying all the time in less then 3 months.

With all due respect, a CKD diet only works if you pay METICULOUS attention to the ketogenic and carb-up ratios. Don't screw with it! If you drink alcohol while you're carbing-up, your body MUST burn off the alcohol before it can deal with the carbs you're eating. This effectively means the carbs (and everything else you eat) will be stored as fat instead of being burned for energy. This defeats the whole purpose of the weekend carb-loading. The only time you could get away with alcohol on CKD is when you're in ketosis, but even then you can only touch spirits (no mixers) and they still count as 7 calories per gram alcohol. I suggest you choose either a CKD OR drinking alcohol.
