The Transformation continues !

Well Girls...today is D Day! The start of the transformation contest!! We have to keep a log as part of the contest requirements so this is the new one.

I love the spirit of good competition and felt really excited when I read about this contest. I think it will be a fun way to get some weight off and kick start my goals for this year. There's some stiff competition and going up against mainly guys will be a challenge but...I have full intentions of giving them all a run for their money! :)

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

In :)

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

Hey my gurl. You go strong.
Kick ass and take no prisoners!
You got it in my so let it run!!
:velvett::chomp::chomp::evil::evil::velvett:

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

Just a quick update this morning! Psizzle and I have been chatting...she's the other woman in the contest.....we're going to do a joint log...she'll be in later today to get something up and we'll both post there. A little competition support so to speak. :)

So I'll probably ask QT or one of the other mods to take this one down.

I'll wait until that one goes up to get all my details of what I'm doing up.

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

Ah, interesting...

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

LOL...well I'll wait and see if she gets up and running! I'll get my details up here in a bit...and we'll go from there! :)

Hey is this the EF contest? You're giving it a shot?

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

Ok..well I'll just start here and see what happens, as far as the shared log. :)

First...I had to get approval to enter because I have done a figure show. I didn't place top 3 in it and am currently 50 lbs above my stage weight from that show so Big Rick gave me permission to enter. Need2 has so generously offered to sponsor me in the contest and will be helping me along the way and providing some awesome supplements!

My primary focus will be to drop fat and preserve muscle, as well as improving my overall conditioning. I'll be running a modified prep program. I have no illusions of being "stage ready" in 12 weeks but would like to have made a significant start to getting closer to that goal. I'm the most motivated I've been in months and it feels good to have a fun way to work towards my goals. And....seriously....I'm up against a whole bunch of guys, some of whom are very confident....and that gets me fired up and wanting to work harder. They may come in leaner and harder but I'll make sure no one rules me out too quickly!! ;)

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

I started my cut yesterday. I'm sticking with my 5 day lifting split but have increased cardio in both length and intensity. I'll be incorporating morning cardio sessions (which will suck at 5 am in the -30 temps). ;)

Yesterday was 30 mins cardio in the morning. I hit the gym last night and trained shoulders, followed by another 30 minutes on the step mill.

Calories were 1781 with a 50/25/25 split. I'll keep my carbs around this level for now and will gradually lower them a little more as time goes on.

Today I trained back and did 40 minutes of cardio...a split between the step mill and a treadmill hitt session. I am definitely feeling it tonight with the increase in cardio intensity!!

The nice thing about -30 is that we are tough enough to deal with it :)
It's about that temp here this morning too. brrr!
I'm behind you 8 million percent :)

Thanks Trex! and you're so right....-25 almost felt warm this morning! It's just all the freakin snow that is getting a little annoying. Rush hour is more like crawl hour!! My usual 30 min drive to work this morning was almost an hour and twenty minutes.

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

I hit my diet spot on for yesterday....calorie total was 1781 again.

I woke up this morning with a sore throat. I'm right at that point where you're not 100% but not totally sick either. I got one cardio session in for 30 minutes of intervals on the treadmill and will probably eat a little bit less today. I do not want to get sick so decided to take it easy tonight and get to bed early.

So far...diet is on track. :)

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

I'm not on any supplements yet, outside of some fish oil, multi vitamin, extra vitamin D and calcium. I'll be adding some things in soon.

I weighed in on Saturday at 187.4. It's the heaviest I've been in 3 years and the words "beached whale" came to mind. Nothing like a great reality check. Horrifying and oh so real! ;)

As much as I'm doing this for the fun competition, I'm really doing it for me. I am determined to achieve a goal for the first time in over a year and get back to feeling good about myself! I can't tell you all enough how much I appreciate you and all your support. This forum has really been a great thing in my life and a real help in working towards my goals. :)

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

So excited for you Roxy! You are gonna make such an incredible transformation. I can already feel the fiya you have within you! Rock it out girl!

I think I remember you saying that your figure comp before kinda did a number on your metabolism? What sort of stuff are you going to add in? Is it worth it?
Don't stress about your numbers ok?
You are a strong, beautiful, and capable woman.
It's not" horrifying", its's only your perception, and right now you sound a little outside of reality when you say negative things like beached whale and whatnot.
Only positive thoughts now okay?
Try thinking of three things that you love most about your body, and focus on those for today.
Do you have strong shoulders that you throw back with pride?
Can you carry heavy groceries because you have strong arms?
Legs that stride like an Amazon?
You're being too hard on yourself- You are really likeable when you're not beating yourself up ;)

Thanks for the feedback Trex. Being hard on myself is absolutely something I struggle with..always have. I do it and don't even realize it. It's part of that "all or nothing" personality. You're right though..perception is everything and mine has been really off pretty much since I competed. It's something I have recently started talking to someone about again. Because I work in the helping profession, I believe we can always use a tune up and I know I've been off balance for awhile. When I started losing weight a few years ago, I did some fairly intensive therapy...it was part of the lifestyle change but some habits die hard. :)

Supplement wise I was thinking maybe forged burner and some slin. Needto will be sending me some of those. Nothing major. Consistency will be the key for my success I believe.

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

Woooooooooooohoo! Keep it up Roxy, proud of ya my friend :) Sorry I've been a little MIA the past few days. Will begin my posts tonight after weights and cardio (I'm assuming we're doing separate logs after you spoke to that guy?) Sucks cause I was looking forward to having a joint thread, lol. Double team! But, it's fine. We're gonna rock it either way. :) Keep it up, I'm right there with ya.

I felt pretty damn worthless for a long long time. It has really been only since I got sober that I realize that I can lay the past to rest. I know what you mean about being hard on yourself. For me, it was a way of controlling my emotions so I was the only one allowed to hurt myself.

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

Dam Roxy my gurl I didnt think you look like a beached whale at all.
Dunno what N2 has laid out for you but just this word.
Lifting heavy will burn more cals then cardio any time and every time.
With lifting heavy your burn lasts for 6-8 hrs.
So just give that some thought.
Add vit c for that sore throat. Oranges and real foods are better then sups for this.
Keep it up chika you doing gr8 and you are one deadly woman!:anon::chesty:.

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

Hey psizzle glad to see that youre in it too. I would have liked to see more wimminz do the contest. But I know that you both will be a gr8 pair for the ladiz.
Looking forward to seeing your programz, weightz and diet too.
Best of luck girly!:D:evil:

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

For both of you ladies, add 1 packet of gelatin to your post workout shake.
Gr8 for hair, nail. and most of all JOINTS AND SOFT TISSUES!

Your last comment really resonated with me. I've never really framed it like that before so it was a really interesting way to look at things. Thank you for that insight TRex. That has already had a powerful impact on my thought process and was really what I needed to start making some positive changes, thought wise (and behavior wise).

Gelatin?? just gelatin you'd buy in the store?

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

On a program update...doing well so far! I've had 4.5 days of sticking to the plan and it feels great! Yesterday was a real challenge...I ended up working about 12 hours and when I got home I was so tired, I just wanted to eat carbs for comfort and sleep. I managed to get in a workout and stick to the diet plan and it's amazing how overcoming one small challenge can add to the motivation. :)

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

Whooo hooo, way to go Roxy!!

It's funny how small victories reaffirm a positive mindset, heard, I think you may have posted it up... "sucess is the sum of small efforts repeated daily"

Congrats for putting in when it was easier not to, go girl!!

Sheesh Roxy, this is how lame my EF account is, I had no idea you had this post up so long! Subbed, best wishes!

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

Ok..another successful day on the books. Woo hoo!!

I trained chest tonight. I've lowered my volume a bit but with that, been able to increase lifts. I've gone back to the MaxOT style training.

Bench Press - did the real thing tonight..no smith. I wanted to see where I was at strength wise.

3 warm up sets

40 lbs - 6
50 - 6
50 - 6 (new PR for me)

Incline dumbbell press/ superset incline flies

for presses
20 lbs - 8
25 lbs - 8
30 lbs - 6

flies
20 - 6
20 - 6
20 - 6 ( I was FINALLY able to get back up to a decent weight for flies and no sore arms...it was totally my form!!)

3 sets of incline crunches with 25 lb plate to failure - usually between 12-15

Finished the night off with 20 minutes of HIIT on the treadmill! My first true blue HIIT session of the year. :)

I'll post up my nutrition tomorrow but feeling excited at 6 days of sticking to an eating program. Feels great!

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

Hey my gurl, run this by your boss....
For the contest I would drop the flys. They dont add size or strength is why.
I would use that energy for flat bench and dbl presses.
Just a thought for you.
You are deadly.....very deadly!

Yup just the plain old gleatin. Not flavoured not sweetend.
Just plain gelatin like for canning.

Sounds good Zed. I've set up my own training, for now, so I can make that change. Would you include decline presses?

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

Nope just flat bench and incline dbl.

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

A quick note for tonight. Today is a rest day for me. It was a 12 hour work day and I had some car problems so am really exhausted. Turns out my fuel injector started leaking...thank God my car didn't start on fire!

Overall, a great first week. I've had 7 days of sticking to my diet and I haven't done that in months. I'm going to tweak my meal plan a little bit this weekend...I'll be keeping the calories/macros about the same but just changing a couple of the meals to make things a little more convenient.

Have a great Friday night everyone! :)

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

Week one summary:

Initial weigh in: 187.4
Today: 182

Hooray!! I always drop more the first couple weeks, water etc but it's just what I need to keep riding that motivation wave! :)

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

GOOD FOR YOU MY GURL;)!
Keep up the good work.....you are deadly...very deadly!

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

Hi Roxy! Hope you have a great weekend! What do you have planned?

My weekends usually involve grocery shopping, training, making food for the week and all the usual household stuff. My son always has a soccer game on Sundays too.

I was just thrashed yesterday. A gf and I were figuring out that with the bad weather we've had, it added on an extra 10 hours of "stuff" to the week, with driving and snow shoveling. We had soccer this morning at 7:30 so I had an early night last night. Felt great to get lots of rest. :)

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

I trained quads and calves today.

Started out with 10 mins on the step mill.

Squats - did the real ones, no smith machine. Really focused on getting low.

bar only - 12
20 - 12
40 - 12
60 - 12
60 - 10

Incline leg press/ calf raises (supersetted these - did 15 reps for calves eat set)

90 - 12
140 - 12
140 - 11
140 - 10

Did the add/ abd machines

3 sets of 10 - 110 lbs each

followed by 20 mins of running intervals.

Nutrition on track for the day. :)

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

Looks good Roxy. Squatting is awesome! Using the smith machine cannot compare to the cage.

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

Looks good Roxy. Squatting is awesome! Using the smith machine cannot compare to the cage.

I definitely had to change the form and realized I am not quite as flexible as I thought!! Getting low was tough!

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

My workout tonight was 40 mins cardio. I did intervals but not a HIIT...more of a moderate intensity. Was sporting the old hoodie and getting my sweat on! Felt great.

I have a day procedure tomorrow medical wise and will spare you the details but it's a small skin graft. It sucks because I will be awake and have huge anxiety about it. My appetite tonight is in the tank due to the anxiety so am boosting my intake with some extra whey. It may set me back a few days training wise, depending on the healing, but I'll be keeping my diet tight so shouldn't be too big of an issue.

Just in case I don't make my update tomorrow..that is the reason. Never a dull moment! :)

I was on the smith for a long time, it was my ex who got me off the smith and helped me squat properly (thx bbr100)and now I can go pretty low.
I used a pc of wood under my heels to get me started and then slowly learned the form and, poof, no more wood.

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

I'm home from work today. My skin graft I had was in my mouth and I look like I've been punched in the face..quite swollen this morning and some pain. I'm pretty much reduced to liquids right now so have been drinking protein shakes with a straw. I managed some yogurt and cottage cheese last night as well. I have to stay out of the gym today for sure and we'll see about tomorrow and how the bleeding is. It went well but I hate those types of things so passed out half way through! ;)

gum reconstruction?
You are going to get LEAN from this ;)
good time for juicing veggies and protein shakes!!
if you coddle an egg, you could zip that up in the blender too.

You got it...and then had the ligament cut from the lower lip to the gum. Yuck!! Gives me the shivers thinking about it!

Good idea for the juiced veggies! I could probably manage an egg too ..was thinking even egg whites or a cooked egg chopped into small pieces would work well.

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

I used to have egg flips when I was young, it is a raw egg, milk and add a drop of vanilla essence blended up into a milkshake.... it's yummy and you don't even notice the egg

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

How you doing Roxy my gurl?

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

I'm doing okay. Still have some pain and a fair bit of swelling but it's getting better. I am going to hit the gym tonight and do some low impact cardio. Even running is a bit of an issue still but I can do some light weights and light cardio. I'm able to chew a little bit, although am sticking mainly to liquids and thanks to Zed and Rick, I'll be starting a new diet program this weekend. They are helping me out and have both been AMAZING to work with! The diet is something different from what I've done so I'll be posting more on that. I'm excited to try something new and it's been great to have such knowledgable people helping me out! :)

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

I was back in the gym today. I trained chest/ tris followed by 30 minutes on the step mill. It felt great and I really noticed a difference being on mainly liquids all week. I went lighter weights/ higher reps to avoid pressure in my face and did not want to pop any stitches but it felt great to be moving more again. My chin is still swollen but I'm noticing small improvements every day.

I'm able to eat more solids and will be starting my new diet tomorrow.

Overall, it's been a good 2 weeks in and I'm ready to kick things up another notch. :)

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

Hey Roxy, I'm video taping some of my work outs for another fitness blog I post on, so did this today and thought I would share with you.

View My Video

How are the squats coming along?

Blueta..thank you! That's awesome and it helped me watching you do the exercise. I haven't done a full weighted squat with the whole dental thing going on but I have been practising the form. I used a couple 5 lb plates for my heels, just to get that balance and it made a difference.

Thank you also for your little note on the K. I saw that yesterday morning and it made such a difference in the whole day! I really appreciated it and that positive feeling stayed with me! :)

How you doing my chika?
Post post post...

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

Ok...I'm a few days behind in updating. We have 2 computers in our house and the one I use crashed, so I'm having to fight with my son for computer time. All of a sudden he's decided he needs to be gaming on the computer!! I never thought I'd be wishing he'd play more Xbox. ;)

Yesterday was the best day of the whole 2 weeks so far. I've been really working on being more positive and letting go of things I can't control. I've had some frustration around planning for this competition in terms of finding the right program to be using, diet and all the basics of where to post pics, what items to be holding etc. Even to take the progress pics, I have to plan it as I need a gf to come over and do it for me. I don't do well with last minute!! Like most of you, my days are packed with working full time, parenting full time and trying to fit training and food prep around a busy teenager. I'm also someone who needs to sleep...I don't function well on less then 7 hours. I drive myself insane when I'm not organized and have had some of those struggles the last couple of weeks.

However, recognizing that's what it is and having several venting sessions with Zed have really helped me to re-focus and get moving even more!! Zed, you are a saint! :)

omg. I could've written that. lol I am a bear when I am dieting and don't get my much needed beauty sleep. and I'm such a planner and orgainzer. I like things set in place before I do anything!

Well we are here to motivate and push you! Keep posting so we know where we can help.

Have a wonderful Tuesday!!!

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

Yesterday I hit the gym and rocked some fasted cardio in the early morning hours. It was a balmy -35 C so was really tempted to go back to bed. A girl I know from another forum lives about 4 hours from me and is just starting the early am cardio as well, so we are doing 5 am motivational texting. I did intervals on the treadmill which consisted of walking for 2 minutes at a decent pace and then running for 1 minute. It gets my heart rate up there but is not HIIT...more of a high moderate session.

I trained back and biceps last night, following the max ot training guide. My weights were not that far off my max weight, although I discovered that when I get closer to my max, I must scrunch up my face because I hit 110 lbs on the cable row and wondered if I'd popped a stitch. I tasted a bit of blood so backed the weight off by 10 lbs. It seems to be ok though and today is the first day that I haven't felt the constant aching with it. Hooray!

I'll do another post about my diet....

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

Amen sista!! Some people call it obsessional but for me it's called survival! When you are juggling so many things, you have to plan or it just won't happen the way it should.

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

Diet...yesterday was day one of my new diet. Rick O'Shea stepped up and helped me with this, in conjunction with Zed. I think I mentioned before that it was a little different then anything I have done before.

It's 2250 calories with no complex carbs, except for two days a week, where there is a carb load refeed in place of meal 6. I've done diets where you take out the complex carbs but the fat ratio is higher here so I'm really excited to see how I respond.

Yesterday's eating looked like this:

Meal 1

10 egg whites/ 1 egg
1.5 cups broccoli
12 almonds
6.5 oz grapefruit

Meal 2

2 scoops whey
4 tsp PB
1 cup broccoli

Meal 3

7 oz chicken
1 cup broccoli
18 almonds

Meal 4

2.5 scoops whey
1 cup green beans
2 tbsp PB

Meal 5

7 oz halibut
1 cup green beans
3 oz avacado

I am one meal short from yesterday. I am coming off 5 days of mainly liquid so I was doing pretty good to get all that in. I'll work up to the 2250 and then give it a week or 2 and modify from there in terms of calorie counts.

The plan is to do this diet for 3 weeks and then switch out for 2 weeks to more of a carb cycling diet and so on.

Thanks Zed! You're a great guy and so great at helping so many here.

I aim for 7 hours of sleep during the week and usually sleep more on the weekends. I really try to listen to my body there and if I need a Saturday afternoon nap and can fit it in, I do it! :)

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

P.S. I'll get my pics into the gallery tonight. Enough avoiding! LOL I just don't have them at work to upload.

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

Right on Roxy. I'm so confused with that new gallery! Eek :( I emailed Big Rick and asked him about it. If you figure it out let me know lol. Also heard we need to hold a milk jug or something in our newest pictures. Only in one, of course. :) In my last pics I was holding a knife and fork in EVERY pic lol! Even the lat spread I had them tucked in the back of my shorts. I felt like a complete idiot once Rick told us we only need the item in ONE pic, haha. I wasn't the only one though so it's fine.

Hope you're doin well ma'am!

That's exactly what I'm doing! I'm normally someone who can't have PB in the house because it calls to me in the night (especially if there's fresh bread laying around)...lol...but it's been working! So far so good! :)

Re: 84 Days...T Contest Log

Summary for Tuesday, Feb 1

My eating was the same as yesterday. I got the 5 meals in. I'm noticably more hungry today though and am thinking I'll be good to go for all 6 meals. The original plan had the carb loads on Tuesday and Fridays and I'm going to switch it to Wed/ Sat, purely out of scheduling. The carb load, which I'll write more about tonight, requires eating a bunch of stuff in a certain order and Tuesdays are bad nights for me. I am home and then off to my son's soccer so I'd be eating till midnight. Rick do you read this log? That should be ok shouldn't it? I'll pm ya too.

It was my turn to drive last night for soccer so I hit up a different gym for 40 minutes of cardio. Got my hoodie on and hit the treadmill. It was cool going to a different location...different people to see, different layout and different energy in the gym. It was a nice change of pace. I always plan my lifting around soccer so I knew I wouldn't be lifting last night and it worked well for cardio. I had just enough time to drop the boys off and get back to pick them up.

I'm attaching a couple pics....not the gallery ones, although that's next on my list. These are from a family gathering on Sunday. One is me and my son who will be 15 next week. He desperately needs a hair cut! The other is a pic of all the nieces and nephews in my family. You can tell I'm the oldest and had my son pretty early, compared to the rest of my siblings. All the little kids just love my son though...he makes for a great trampoline! ;)
