Fast twitch muscles?

I have heard that stregenthing your fast twitch muscles will help increase your bench. I bought some bands last week but don't really know how or when to use them. For that matter I may have been fed a bunch of shit and wasted money. Will it work and if so how should I go about using the bands and when shoudl I use them?
 
I think you mean fast twitch FIBERS?

These are used mainly when pressing heavy weights. The key is to use low reps.

Oxidative or slow twitch fibers are used mainly for higher reps, and thus more for endurance purposes.

It sounds like you want to increase your bench with the bands. This is what you do, tricep pushdowns with bands by putting the band around the top of a door, also put one end of the band around a bedpost and get a peice of PVC tubing. Then do lat rows wit the band. Check out the exercise index on the elitefts site
