How many of you guys wear a belt?

Just wondering. For the last year I havn't used anything...no belt, wrist straps, gloves nothing. Lift heavy squats, dead lifts the whole bit. So far so good.
 
as soon as i put on those 3 items you listed above, my lifts went up faster. and my maxes. especially straps.
 
i never used to wear one. . .even when i sqautted heavy (505). . .however, developed a small hernia over my belly button a few years back that required surgery. . .now i wear my belt when i'm eating cereal. . .
 
I wish I had worn a belt in college.

8 year later and now I have wasted away the disk in my lower back. I cant even lift two 50 pound dumbells off the flor anymore without causing the vertebrae to rub causing inflamation and putting my in bed for 2 days.
 
I JUST started to use a belt, Only for last set of squats, and for stiff legged deads, sometimes over head press, that is it for now.
 
I wear a belt and use straps. The belt helps you keep good posture (among other things) which helps ensure you are working the appropriate muscles. The wrist straps give you a better grip so you can work certain muscles to their fullest without the weakness of your grip hindering that. Unless you are going to compete, and the competitions you compete in do not allow such items, why not use them? Using the appropriate accessories helps prevent injury, increase load/reps and they allow you to work the targeted muscle to its fullest; it just makes no sense for one to not use them.
 
I use anything available in the market that can protect my body from any pain or any bad movement or excesive pressure. My heavy workouts are only to target the muscle group.
 
Agree with above, if you're not competing then why not use them. I initially thought it was like i was cheating myself but quickly realised that was bullsh*t
 
shit i do
when i hit 315 to 455 shugs i use straps
when i hit 365 to 455 on squats i use a belt
i use staps when i do some back too
