Anything other than squats?

I'm having to neglect whatever that muscle is that works with squats...cause my knees are hella bad.

Anyone got a quick fix?

Thanks,

Xavier

sitting back on the box might help the knee pain.

I cant squat right now so I'm having to rotate leg press/sumo deadlifts and the safety squat for the same effect.. no squats = suck

My knees don't bother me at all with other things, but squats KILL me, I don't go to the floor...the only squat I can manage is some sad 1footers :(

I just don't know what to do

I hesitate to give this advice because in most instances there's a correctable measure for inability to squat, but you can try step ups. The Bulgarians, among others, have had success with these. There's a video of them that can also be accessed through the Training Information sticky. You can use either barbell, dumbells, or plates in each hand. Use a bench if a box isn't available. Do them like you see in the video where he does all reps in the set for one leg, then the other leg. In other words, don't alternate.
These should also help many flexability problems you have with squatting. There's a good discussion of knee issues in the article "The Squat" also found in the Training Info Vault. I'd read it over and in a few weeks go back a give squatting another try just to see if it's any better.
