....if you have never, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society.

https://www.cancer.org/docroot/DON/DON_1_Donate_Online_Now.asp

I will make a Karma donation in the amount of 500x for each EFer whom makes a donation this week. Since I don't really have any way to check on that, you guys will be on the Honor System. Pm me with the details of your donation.

I haven't been online as much lately, and as a couple of you know, I lost my mother over the weekend due to complications from Pancreatic Cancer. She went in to the hospital to have a non-related surgery when the cancer was discovered.

The time-line here:

Clean blood, tissue, high-contrast CT results in February....memorial service was yesterday

Less than 2 months folks.

If you can possibly make a donation, of ANY amount, you might just be helping a family member in the future.

Thank you in advance,

S.

Donated. Amount undisclosed. No karma wanted or needed.

My very, very sincere condolences, and IP and I will pray for you and everyone in your family tonight.

Sorry to hear that bro....................heartbreaking isnt it?

I lost my father 8 years ago too, the same cause....................will make a donation bro...

very sorry for your loss Shadow. My uncle died of cancer at the age of 48... He had it all over, brain, lungs, near his heart, everywhere. Last time I saw him was at my wedding and I hadn't seen him for a year before that. He looked soo different all bloated and stuff no hair. I cried when I saw him cause I didn't recognize him other than by his voice. Saddest thing I've seen in a long time.

I just donated $100 .. thanks for the link
I was gonna do $10 monthly but I don't like the recurring expenses cause I forget about them and don't expect it sometimes.

Anyways again I am VERY sorry for your loss. I've not had the unfortunate experience to lose a parent, but in the last 3 years I've lost all my grandparents, 2 uncles and 3 cousins (in iraq). I definately know how it feels to lose someone close to you. All too well.

crap bro I forgot to post that I didn't do it for the karma and to not send it.. oh well EF gets it's tax... i just sent it back. I appreciate the gesture though.

I saw.

Thank you.

Karma should mean something on EF.

I think it's safe to say this should really NOT be an issue ...

Shadow I  ya man, but I don't need the K either ... back your way

I know.

..but its the only way I can repay the folks, you know??

Although I will freely accept any and all karma hits coming my way :-)
If anyone else wants to toss karma my way, feel free :-)
I just will not accept it from The Shadow, he is the one that deserves getting the karma...

Done...

Not for the karma, but for anyone that has, is, or will be dealing with a cancer situation. I'm terribly sorry for your loss Shadow.

Sorry to hear about your mother Shadow. Losing a parent is always tough. My father died two years ago March 25 and it still hurts.

My father had prostate cancer although it was treated successfully and one of my best friends from college died from cancer when he was 29. He was married and had three daughters.

My wife and I donate every year to several organizations because of this. Cancer, Diabetes, Olympics for special needs children, and the Deaf and Blind organiziation. My aunt and uncle were both deaf and mute. Good causes to donate to.

Keep your karma and give it to someone else. I know how much these organizations do and I am happy to give what I can.

Take it one day at a time and I'll say a prayer for your family.

Shadow, I'm so sorry. I just lost my mother on December 6th. It was a situation very similar to yours. She got diagnosed in August, and died in December. She was only 58 years old. When she got her diagnosis, I had her come live with me. The last couple of months, my law practice nearly went out of business because I was so involved in taking care of my mother. She wanted to die at home, and she did. But it was long and arduous. My heart is with you.

Sorry to hear about your loss shadow.

Can someone tell me what's a common amount to donate? Never did this before. I just made some money from the NCAA Tourney.. i'll some to the cancer society. I'll check back after my class... bbl.

remember we are running it at 50-50, pay up 1000/$1, got your back

yep....

I'll rehit everyone again

Scoundrels arent telling me the amount...which is totally cool...I'll hit as much as I want on the K

I'm sorry about your mother. I've seen the effects of cancer from a very personal perspective. It's not anything I would want someone to go through, or see someone else go through. :rose:

great thread shadow, I'll donate later, only online for a minute now

Alright just made a $75 donation. I hope that even this small amount can help. Never made a donation before... well other than like a $1 donation at the movies for katrina and 9/11 related stuff. Wish I could give more.. just not at the time.

What a woman!!!

Thank you

I'm very sorry about your loss shadow.

I've lost several loved ones cancer including a spouse, I understand your pain. His stepmom died of pancreatic cancer.

I haven't made any financial donations but I have Folders going 24x7. It's not about the karma, it's about doing something to help find a cure. Here's my story if you're interested.

Big love to you shadow :rose:

I've had three surgeries for a reoccuring benign tumor in my middle ear. After the third surgery (walls-down modified radical tempanomasteodectomy with attemptend ossicular reconstructon), I have no eardrum or hearing bones -- just an empty cavity. I can only imagine what those with malignant cancer go through.

This is a real cause worthy of donations.

Of course, being the sciencey guy I am, I'm more for donations for cancer research than some of the other donations to ease the suffering (not to downplay what they go through). Just the type of way I think.

:cow:

I'll make a donation but to the Canadian cancer foundation for tax reasons (i'm sure you understand :) ).

Shadow I am truly sorry for your loss. This Sunday it will be 2 years since my mother passed away.

My husband lost his father of pancreatic cancer in July, two weeks before they were planning a vacation.

Donation has been made, not much unfortunately (too bad you can't choose to donate to a good cause versus paying the IRS).

Again, my deepest condolences to you and yours :rose:

EDIT:

Card message
In remembrance of
Shadow's Mother,
a Memorial Gift has been made to

Felt kind of silly sending it to myself but you have to send a card ...

Everyone should donate something. This is a great cause! Most people know someone or are related to someone who has been affected by cancer.

I recently made a donation of $250 to ACS as a part of a fundraiser project I ran last month.

Hey ........that is what us healthy people need to do....help others get healthy
Exactly!!! I raised $2,500 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society two years back with Team in Training. Then I turned around and helped another girl raise $5,000. What you put into this world is what you will take out of this world. You never know what may happen to yourself one day and maybe... just maybe something that you did could turn around and benefit yourself.
Look I met Bunny about 6 months after raising that donation and turns out she had Lymphoma... I would do any thing to help people out. Why not. If we are healthy we my as well be proactive.
The one thing I will tell you that kept me going while training for marathons is when you feel pain.... Just think about how much pain that person you are helping out is feeling and that alone is enough to help push you through that next obstacle. Give it your all!

Very sorry to hear of your loss and wish you and your family the very best.

Donation made, dont worry about the Karma just call us even for all that you have done for me.

Again, god bless

so sorry to read about losing your mother to cancer. probably one of the toughest losses losing a mother, especially to such a terrible illness. Hopefully she is someplace better. May peace be upon her. My deepest sorrows to you and your family.

Got back on the island on Friday.

Leaving out again tomorrow...unbelievably hard.

I thought my divorce was tough
