Luckily, this was only an invitational comp.

For videos: scroll down to bottom and press "free" to download

For reference, you have to watch this throw first. This is my 13.30m PR from yesterday (12# shot, about 45 feet):

I'm not completely tapered or anything either, and it was an easy throw.

So anyway, the competition:

The first throw:

No power, 10.89!!!!!!! (in warmup i threw the usual 12m's standing)

The second throw:

No power, 10.53

The third throw:

sums up the worst performance of any sport in my life

i don't know what happened, even though just about every guy there was bigger than me, i was the strongest one. the winning throw was 12.75 by the guy in the video of my 13.30m. i should have won the comp with my first throw.

Well, I can certainly feel for you as regards a Bad day. I spend close on 6 months training for a Powerlifting Competition late last year. Felt tired and weak going in on the day though and was in a very scattered frame of mind. Finished an impressive last, even though I beat the winners score in training. Just pick yourself up, learnm from it, and vow to show the real you the next time out. I'm firing on all cylinders and can't wait for my next meet now

I feel for you, it happens. Try to examine the training and whatever other factors you had going on leading up to the event. Did you overtrain? Did you take it reasonably easy for a few days? Were you just stressed and nervous? Was it something as trivial as dehydration?

If you can learn something from it then you might end up better off than had you won.

i didn't get a proper warmup in, and i was shakey and nervous. didn't have my usual confidence level. i win when i'm cocky.

the 13.30 was done about 2-3 throws after the competition ended.
