Below was what I posted about 6 months ago:
40mg Policosanol and 100mg Coenzyme Q10 gave me the results below, they are in UK units so multiply the totals by 18 to get the US figures, or check the last figures for a quick conversion....
19/12/2003 Baseline figures, no policosanol
Total 5.7 mmol/L
HDL 0.91 mmol/L
LDL 4.4 mmol/L
Hdl Ratio 6.26 mmol/L
Triglycerides 0.8 mmol/L
12/02/2004 Policosanol 20mg ED
Total 5.6 mmol/L
HDL 1.06 mmol/L
LDL 4.1 mmol/L
Hdl Ratio 5.28 mmol/L
Tri 1 mmol/L
27/04/2004 Upped to 40mg ED
Total 5.3 mmol/L
HDL 1.77 mmol/L
LDL 3.53 mmol/L
Hdl Ratio 3 mmol/L
Tri 1.1 mmol/L
02/09/2004 Still at 40mg
Total 3.9 mmol/L ------------- 150.82 US figures
HDL 1.18 mmol/L ------------- 68.45
LDL 2.72 mmol/L ------------- 136.51
Hdl Ratio 3.3 mmol/L 59.4
Tri 1 mmol/L 18
So whereas anywhere below 200 is considered normal mine is 150.82 ...not damn bad at all. I wasn't on anything when I had these tests done BTW.
As with most cholesterol meds they take a while to work fully, up to six months, so don't think you can shoot 1g of test and take these to fix all.
Take the Q10, static type drugs lower Q10 stores.
If you get Policosanol get the plain pure stuff manufactured by 'Pure Encapsulations' and not 'source naturals'.
