Prohormones now banned

Well it is official ladies and gents. The FDA issued a ban on prohormones as of today and has told all supp companies to stop selling them asap. I guess we all got what we were asking for by not stading up. You know they are actually talking about banning creatine and DHEA too. So don't think they won't do it.
 
What a travesty! My guess is, it will get much worse before it gets better!

It puzzles me how it is perfectly legal if a man wants to have his genitals cut off and be turned into a woman and take an extensive hormone regimen for the rest of his life, while the government is criminalizing a few normaly law abiding citizens for taking hormones to a much lesser extent. :worried:

well I guess no one can get ripped off now for buying crappy pro-hormones ;)

However, I can see how this can only lead to worse things.
 
The story speaks specifically about "andro", wonder if it's really that restrictive or a catch all for everything?
 
you know it is just the beginning of a bigger deal. Andro is a pro-hormone...wait till they go after every "supplement" out there. Next thing you know they will ban any herbal blend that rises your test level. stock up now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a question. Is the supplement industry so fucking weak that it can't stand up and fight the government? Why the fuck aren't these companies joining together and fighting?! It's like they're just sitting there with their dicks in their hands. WTF?! First ephedra, now prohormones. Soon, creatine. If this is such a million-dollar business you would think there would be some fight. If I were one of these giants (Twin Lab, Muscletech, etc), I would organize a protest large enough so it would get on CNN so people could see the other side. This is fucking ridiculous!
 
Actually the law they are talking about enforcing would include all PH.

"...the FDA is citing a seldom-used provision of that law that defines as a dietary supplement natural ingredients that were on the market before 1994 -- and says manufacturers must prove that any new ingredients are safe before selling them as supplements."

The makers of PH have never shown them to be safe.

The majority of the supp companies are just out there to make a quick buck and could give 2 shits about what freedoms we lose. This is why they are not fighting. Most of them are to greedy and selfish to unite with other supp companies to put together an effective lobby.

Even more scarey is that they are talking about banning creatine and dhea too. On top of that one senator suggested that all high school students be randomly tested for drugs. Big brother at his best!
 
I don't see how they could ever ban creatine since it is found naturally in foods anyway. The supp companies aren't going to bother spending the money to prove PH aren't dangerous substances. They would basically have to prove they don't work - that's good for sales right?
 
Oh they sure can make something illegal that naturally occurs in nature. How about marijauna, it is nothing more than a tropical plant. Oh and testosterone is natural, every living human in the world has some amount of it coursing through their veins.

The supplement companies don't stand a chance when fighting special interest groups that involve BILLION dollar industries such as the drug companies. Look at the fast food industry scrambling trying to get a law passed so People can't sue them for GETTING fat. What is this country coming too??

Even a better point are we so weak as a nation that we can't stand up to our government. This is OUR country, it is a democracy and it slowly is changing. Well maybe not so slowly. Look at the patriot act, what they are doing with supplements, what happened w the FCC after the superbowl now Howard Stern is resigning bec he sees no point in challenging/standing up the gov. Hell they wont even let the elderly go to canada for prescription drugs bec they arent safe? come on so insteasd they dont get their drugs becasue they cant afford them and die anyways.

All of you need to take action call your senators and congressmen. If you want things to change then do something dont sit on your ass and bitch.

This shit is out of control. The problem is that fitness people (like us) are a minority. If the media writes an article about creatine being bad... people are so misinformed they believe it. I have had non-trained people ask me if creatine was a steroid. This is how stupid people are.
 
the good i can see about having prohormones banned is so some 16 yr old doesnt take them and fuckup his body. I took andro when I was 17 and it fucked me up, I regret it and wish I knew more about it before someone sold me it at GNC

amen brother, I could not have said it better myself. I have been saying this for almost a year now and everyone thought I was nuts when I said they were going to ban prohormones and possibly creatine. You are very correct that it is a slow loss of our rights. This loss of rights is so slow the average man does not see it, but sooner or later it will catch up to everyone.

Very true about the average man not knowing what the fuck is going on. Most people take what they read or watch on TV for word. This is a vicious cycle. The press works on fear and they spark fear into people to get ratings. The government officials play on this propaganda and use it to their political advantage. It is a very bad cycle that is only going to get worse. Trust me, I have seen this coming for a while.

This is no longer the land of the free. We are slowly but surely allowing the government to make our choices for us.
 
I agree with booey, wtf is up with the government allowing smoking and drinking yet they ban ph, I think its just because bodybuilders don't make up enough of the population to exert change. If the government banned tobacco or alcohol people all over would be outraged and they know it. I definately think it makes a statement about the which way the government is going. I mean come on what causes more deaths per year, tobacco or hormones?

I don't understand how they can do shit like this. Has anyone ever proven tylenol/asprin to be "safe"? I'm sure it is at the doses they recommend on the bottle, but there's nothing stopping someone from taking a half bottle other than... (drumroll).. common sense!

Kids used to drink robotussin for the dxm in it and that was a huge safety issue.. funny because I'm pretty sure I saw some at the drugstore the other day?

Pretty great that baseball's "problem" is spilling over and screwing the rest of us... :finger:
 
They don't ban things like tobacco or alcohol b/c its too big of an industry to shut down. And too many of the executives that run those companies have top officials in their pockets to make sure they aren't put out of business. Who is the government gonna piss off by banning prohormones ... obviously they are not a threat to them.

LMAO...well I do not take them ,or steroids :mix:...But I don't really see the reason in banning them...Hell, you do not see them banning Mcdonalds ,Burger king and Pizza Hut...And we will NEVER see the day that alcohol and nicotine are banned, yet all the above mentioned do WAY more harm than anabolic use...Right now it's not about steroids or athletes..It's about gaining more votes for the election.
 
You can do what I do I sit on my ass and BITCH at my Reps and Senators by e-mail as often as I can. Letters are nice to it means your serious enough to sit and write and phone calls. I just got back from our state capital over Education funding issues, get a group and keep bitching its worked for the other assholes who snipe at us.
