Top 3 things in life you regret so far...

cranny

New member
I'm sure it's been posted before but I'd like to entertain the thought again. Mine would be:
1) Not getting braces as a kid. They were not terrible back then but have become a little worse now over time. I would hate to try them now at 37 :worried: .
2) Finishing college. The degree would be nice in my field of work but to me a college degree is more about a person being able to complete a goal or curriculum no matter how tough.
3) Not kissing my first girlfriend at the skating rink when I had the chance. We were either 10 or 11 yrs. old. Hell it was all I could do to get enough courage to hold her hand  . What a baby I was.

1. Decided to go to law school at Brandeis School of Law instead of Cornell because I had a full scholarship at Brandeis.
2. Stuff that I did that contributed to my divorce from my ex hubbie (although I wouldn't want to go back to him
3. Allowing myself to get burned out practicing law a little over a year ago.

1) Barely graduating university with a low GPA. Now I want to do post grad stuff and it's biting me in the ass.

2) Not going back to school full time seven years ago when I could have reasonably done it.

3) Never having enough balls to tell a close friend how I felt about her and finding out two years later when she was already engaged she felt the same way.

getting seriously involved way to soon at such a young age

Not bailing out of a horrible realtionship sooner than I did

Allowing others to have any say in my life to life dealings.

1) Getting so drunk I crashed my truck into a telephone pole
2) Not fucking up the last dood who tried to screw my business.
3) Not suing a school administrator who accused me of stealing...when I really did not.

This is going to sound corny, but I read and re-read this post and could not come up with anything that I regret having done, believe it or not. Except for that one time when organza was the hype. Big mistake, Darling. Big mistake.

that's funny! :)

and the only regret I really have is not going to college and getting into a profession I could enjoy more. This kinda fell in my lap while I was pregnant and was so gratful at the time to have it.....in april will be 15 years!! ugh!

1) Not docking my boat away from the Northeast winds
2) Not selling AOL when it was like 2 gazillion per share
3) Not saving my 1985 "Girls of the Ivy League" Issue of Playboy

I couldn't count the times I would charge one off to those college girl pics in Playboy. I had forgot about them until you mentioned it.

:) #3 was my ex-girlfriend, but same outcome bro!

Occasionally, there are roads that I wished I took, but I also realize that if I did, I wouldn't have the things that I have today and treasure.

2) Finishing college.
So is your regret finishing college or not finishing college?

As for me:
1. Not finishing college 10 years ago and now forcing a square peg in a round hole at age 32.
2. Not taking up martial arts sooner and sticking with it instead of weights.
3. How Ive dealt with the opposite sex. Although Im improving.

(1) Blowing that $40,000
(2) Stalking my ex gf back in '82
(3) Racing my '84 Mazda in the snow and wrecking it and having no insurance.

Not finishing. I have well over 2 years of partying, err, I mean college. I did okay as far as grades but they started to decline towards the end and I felt guilty wasting my mom's money. So went in the direction of the family business. It's been alright but I know I should have buckled down and finished what I started. I had these grand illusions of becoming rich b/c i was part of the family; i did't need a formal education I thought

Never too late to go back, Im 32 and made it to grad school for accounting after having a dead end monkey job for 8 years and just "some college". What I see a lot at the university is kids pinning all their hopes and dreams on that sheepskin but the real world doesnt work that way. They dont realize once they graduate they are starting from zero again, because everyone else has the degrees just like them. At this point you probably want to finish college for the sake of finishing for yourself, not for pinning your lifes worth on the sheepskin. Its easier to finish with that attitude.

Marrying my first husband.
Entrusting my children's care to him for the longest few months of our lives.
Not being able to fix the first two regrets quickly enough to end my girls' hell YESTERDAY.

Don't worry broley, I told ur mum I love her enough for the both of us.

Had to think about this one for a while b/c I choose not to focus on "the should haves" of my life.

1 - I would have had knee surgery and continued figure skating so even if the surgery didn't help I still would have had a second chance.

2 - Stayed in school for a Master in Architecture

3 - 1997 - great guy in New Hampshire...

Doesnt matter all she saw was the picture. Image is everything lol

Lots of people wish they finished school in some capacity. Makes me feel good about my choices because its currently kicking my ass.

Letting others dictate my decisions. mostly financial.

Not "doing it". Just fucking do it! Trust me.

Not following my heart.

Yeah, they're not specific, but I'm a very complicated guy.

i love my life. . .i have more than i expected and a hell of a lot more than i deserve. . .that said. . .i could write a book. . .a pretty damn big one at that, on things that i regret, things that i would have done different. . .christ. . .

1. Spending too much time and energy trying to make others happy before myself (this one's come back to really bite me).

2. Being more concerned with making money instead of being happy with what I do.

3. Not finishing school.

Actually, the school thing used to bother me as I do not have an undergrad degree. However, recently I have realized that I dont NEED that piece of paper to accomplish the goals that I set forth for myself.

Would a college degree have made my life easier? I am sure it would have. But did I NEED one to accomplish the goals that I have set forth? No.

if i didnt have my degree, id be about a million, maaaaayyyyybe a million and a half up from where i am right now :)

having a degree doesnt neccessarily make anything better at all. actually most of the miserable people i know went to uni. hm.

1. Not sleeping with that one girl when I could have (I can apply that to many circumstances)
2. Marrying my ex-wife after not listening to my intuition and common sense because I did not want to believe the truth.
3. Not having my soul mate with me now!

#2 is kind of big bruh. hope it wasnt too hard of a lesson.

well, looks like some people made similar mistakes in life...frisky, our regrets are rather similar.

1.) Giving all my love and sacrificing my entire life for 4 years to someone that ended up completely betraying me and using me in the worst way possible....all for money and security.
2.) robbing myself of my early 20's......and growing up way too fast (dropping out of college, being in a serious relationship, slave to my job...jnevin, i feel you on that one. easy to be focused on the money in the mortgage biz..and forget the fun or enjoyment of what you're actually doing.)
3.) Not taking better care of myself and treating my neurological conditions....years of self loathing and misery within.....

unfortunately, i just realized all this recently....

1. moving to the mountain, other than that can't think of anything oh wait...

2. having kids,,,, nah just joking LOL, well.... no really just joking LOL

Sorry about the knee. How old were you?
I hear what you're saying and I don't like to dwell on the past either. But we learn alot in life when we make these type choices and then have to live w/ them. These along w/ the right choices are what makes us who we are.

I don't remember the exact quote I read before but was something to this affect.
Life is a terrible teacher. It gives us the test first and the lesson last.

17.

I totally agree - I don't think you should forget but you should not live or dwell in the past either (or for long), face it, learn from it and do you best to be a better person and make better choices and move on.

:)

(Besides it gives you something to further torture yourself with and reflect on when you're feeling blue...)

Great Ava BTW

Nothing offhand.

Anyone that I might have hurt.

1. Quitting the track team while at University
2. Many "missed opportunities" with women when I was in my teens and twenties out of pure naivete.
3. Any pain I have caused my wife over the years. She didn't deserve it.

Intresting (and good) to see majority of regrets here (on both sides) have to do with relationships & people, not so much about money and material BS....some good people here for sure.

I can only think of 2:

1) Did too much ecstasy in my early twenties... danced too fuckin hard and now have permannent damage to my feet
2) That nasty Deca cycle a few years ago....fucked up me test levels. Am now on HRT.

I would think doing too much x would affect your brain long term.

1. Not fucking the living shit out of Jennifer.
2. Fucking the living shit out of Bev......shudder...
3. Eating at Taco Bell.

3. playing high school football.(national known team right down the street from me...) I couldnt even though I was a juiced up 235 lbs when I was 17
