I tried H&R Block tonight for taxes

I always wondered if they are as good as they claim. I did my own taxes first and by my calculations I owed $230 to the Fed and $97 to the state. H&R Block found a $400 credit that I was not aware of. I ended up with a $222 federal REFUND and only owed the state $35. Of course I paid $144.00 for their service. So, my net is a $43 refund instead of paying an extra $327 if I had done my own taxes. Of course part of me is kicking myself because I didn't know about that $400 credit. I could have done my own taxes and kept all of my refund.

yeah i have a tax guy and he only charges me 75 bucks total including the e-filing fee.

My accountant is a beautiful man. I love that man. We max out our exemptions and still get huge refunds.

H&R Block sucks, get a real CPA.

aside from getting raped with fees, if you were an accountant why would you work at HR Block unless you had to? shitty accountants = shitty results.

Most people who work at H&R Block aren't even accountants. They just go to a class and get some certification that anyone can pretty much get in a few weeks.

fuck. . .i don't think you even need to have a high school diploma. . .just 6 one hour h&r block tax courses. . .i'm a cpa, a cva, i have a masters degree in taxation, and 22 years of experience in public accounting. . .i charge $160 per hour during tax season and nine times out of ten i'm still way cheaper than those fucks at h&r block.

Yes, I know a CPA would be better but costs more around here. I have always done my own taxes but there were some different things to report this year and I was a bit confused on them. I came out ahead paying them to do it though.
