O.K. fellow bodybuilders, I was wondering out there in the realm of bodybuilding who has great advice or techniques in the gym to psych yourself up to do that heavy rep. Any good ideas out there? I know some bodybuilders take an energy pill like Dymetadrine Extreme or Thermadrene to get that adrenaline going, I do the same too, but I was looking for some ideas from yous guys out there besides the normal slapping on the chest and screaming, are there any other techniques? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated and if they are excellent ideas trust me they will be put into use. FLEX ON THAT FOR A WHILE.

meditation is the key man..and no, im not talking about the stoff old Myagi does is the "Karate Kid" movies...im talking about focusing all you hate, anger, pain, misery..all the shitty things in your life, focusing it on the lift..it might sound stupid, bu come on...what makes you angry? what makes you blood boil??

i have to listen to metallica to get this prosess going..a mental block ive made, that way i dont feel down or angry or nuthing when im out of the gym..but all these emotion hits me when i put my headphones on..and i can use them to my advantage..a ex gf fucked you over?? use it...you have a crappy job?? use it...your dick is small?? use it...everything is usable..

just my 2 cents...and a nickle

Mr.Muscle I think that is an excellent response and you are absoletly right about meditation. I use basically the technique you mentioned about focusing everything on that lift. I find that when I workout I listen to SevenDust, Metallica, PumpJack, and a couple of other artists, this really pumps me up but also I tend to block everything off and take three deep breaths to get that oxygen going through my body and it's just me and the weights. Great advice Mr. Muscle. FLEX ON THAT BECAUSE I SURE DID.

gREAT ADVICE MR.MUSCLE I THINK THIS IS AN EXCELLENT IDEA AND I ALREADY USE THIS IDEA WHERE I FOCUS EVERYTHING ON THAT ONE LIFT. MEDITATION IS AN EXCELLENT TOOL TO USE AT THE GYM WHERE YOU BLOCK OUT ALL AROUND YOU AND THEN IT'S YOU AND THE WEIGHTS. FLEX ON THIS FOR A WHILE BECAUSE I SURE DID.

When I need to lift a heavy rep I put all my anger, hate and what not into it. When I'm running on the treadmill, this works good for me. I focus on something a couple feet in front of the treadmill and keep runnin like I'm runnin for that object. When I'm done goin as far as I have to, I get off the treadmill and go touch the object. Weird as hell but it works.
