i was wondering what a good number of sets for biceps and triceps are. right now i do in the 10-12 range for each, but on different days. i'm looking to add some size to my arms so is that a good number of sets or should i do less?

yeah..10-12 sets is good..i myself never do more than 10..just be sure you are in the right rep range man...lets say if you do 3 sets on an exercise..do like 12 reps on the first set, 8 on the next and 6 on the last..going to failure on every set.

It depends.

Your arms will grow as you get bigger.

What makes you bigger?

I put a half inch on my arms in 6 weeks. I did 2 sets of direct bicep work, and 2 sets of direct tricep work a week.

I focused on squating, deadlifting, chins, rows, bench press, OH press, etc...

I gained 10 pounds. I think that had something to do with it.

Yeah, 10 to 12 sets are great! Personally, I do 12 sets and I work tris and bis back to back on the same day. I find that for me this works out much better than working them on seperate days. But you got to do what works best for you.

mr. stagg knows what he is talking about
arms grow as you get bigger,there is no way to make the arms grow by focusing on just arms.
focus on squats deadlifts, chins,and pressing movements and eat above maintnance
calories.than you will see the results you wish for.
remember that an inch of arm muscle is 15lb of body weight,so focus on exercises that build mass and youll get bigger everywhere...

I personally do two working sets per excersise and two excersises per bodypart.So thats four working sets for tri's and four for bi's and thats plenty.Remember your arms also get worked during rows,chins,benching pressing etc.,so its easy to overtrain them.

I myself do 18 sets for bis, 10 for tris. For most people, this is overtraining, but as for now being in only my second year, I'm more concerned about weight on the bar than inches on the tape.
