Well I'm having a problem guys. I've been working out hard for the last 6 weeks and have made good gains on my chest workout (eg- my bench has gone up 25 pounds), but the last two times on chest I've notice a letdown. I'm not really gaining strength, I actually had to drop 5 pounds on the weights. I work chest twice a week. What should I do, change up my chest routine with different exercises, work chest say 3 times in 2 weeks. I'm clueless??

Ah...Manny, I don't think it's possible for your body to get immune to creatine....it already has creatine in it. Other drugs...yes maybe, but not creatine or protein.

First I also work arms and legs, usually do arms the day after chest and triceps aren't that sore so its alright. Second my chest workouts are about 5 days apart sometimes 4days. Last I do take creatine but I don't think it has anything to do with that.

Your chest doesn't need to be hit more then once a week, if you are hitting it hard enogh it should take at least 5 days to recoop. Make sure you are training your delts and tris hard also, but not right after chest or right before, it sounds like definate overtraining. Pump up the L-Glutamine doasage also for faster recovery along with your BCAA's and complete Proteins.

Hey Ethertex, I'm just asking for future reference if u are still here.Are u saying that if i took Creatine for more than six to 10 weeks or more i would keep seeing the same progress i was seeing in the first three weeks or so. I heard it's good to cycle off. Any opinions

I'd say cut back to once a week for chest too. Sometimes you just have bad days. I wouldn't sweat and just stay lifting. I'd seriously drop it down to once a week for chest especially since you're just starting out.

Manny, I can't answer your question completely...but I'm quite sure that creatine is naturally found in your body, so I don't think it would adapt. Although cycling it couldn't hurt. Does anyone else know the science behind it?
I do know though that protein won't adapt...for sure.

I suggest that you take some time off. If you made good gains, then the program worked. But your body might be taxed by now. Try taking a week off from the gym, and see how that works. This is what I do, and it has worked just fine for me (so far).

Bunch of answers;

1) Overtraining 4sure. Drop it back to once a week and spend a couple of weeks doing low weight-high reps to recover.

2) Creatine - yes cycle 2-3 months on 1 month offf

3) Yes Creatine in a natural occuring substance. It is used in the first 10 seconds of muscle exersion. I can get more info, but I don't have it with me right now.

4) I work out at New Body Dimensions on St. Laurent (by BK and laser tag). Half way between Florida Fitness and the OAC. You guys should stop in and check it out sometime. It is Weights only. No pussy aerobics etc. New equipment and no BS
