I usually do most of my sets to near failure. My resting time between sets is between 2 and 3 minutes between sets unless I'm doing superset or alternating exercises. How bout you guys... do ya think I lack intensity?

Maybe you are. After a warmup set or two all should be to failer, and one or two beyond failure i.e. forced reps or drop sets every once in a while. Then again maybe you aren't. It depends on your physiology - listen to your body - if it feels like you can go harder, do so. If not don't worry about it as long as you're making gains.

Yeah but you got to remember, not everyone can do set after set to failure. To take a muscle to COMPLETE failure has a lot to do with how strong you are mentally. Try doing squats till you hit the floor...and then doing leg ext till cant feel ur legs! Those kind of workouts put me out for the rest of the day. its tough as hell to do!

I'll tell you something. I have to say I am the most intense person in our gym. There are times that I cannot even sleep the night before I know I am going to the gym. I have a CD player on my belt. I do not talk to anyone. I am just pissed off at the world when I get in there. As far as lifting I take every set to failure and on my last set I get help with 2 to 3 negatives. Good form with slow and controled movements mixed with intensity is the key.

Every set to failure with 45 seconds rest. You get out quick with a huge pump

Definition of Intensity:

Taking a weight you can squat for 10 reps, and going to 20 no matter how long it takes.

Reaching failure on an excercise and forcing yourself to do 2 more reps.

Having to scream for each and every rep you do on work sets.

Having to sit down and rest for a few so you don't pass out.

If your pukin, you've got the intensity.

I love intensity. its been 2 days and I still cannot walk. It usually last about 4 days. I did a lot more this week. I did my front squats and back squats on the same day. then after deads and leg presses. then leg ext. then I work hams and calvs. I needed a shock though and I got it. normally I won't do this much. but I can't complain. I wanted to puke between every set. I actually started gagging at one point.
