I would just like to say to the squatters and dead lifters don't stop. Those are some of the best excercises and so many don't do them. I love them and will never stop. Thats where the men are seperated from the boyz. If you don't do these and some of you don't please say why and don't use injury as an excuse. Any one else wonder that.

I would totally agree, a lot of people use the excuse that they don't want a big ass, or a thick waist. It's true that the squat and deadlift does build the waist and glutes to some extent, but the thickness you get in your legs and lowerback/traps far outweighs any negatives. If you look at any contest lineup, at a glance you can see who works the squat and deadlift. They have stonger, denser, thicker looking muscles, that can't be duplicated by any other excercise.

If I had to choose only one exercise to do I'd be choosing one of these two.

Simply put, these 2 exercises are the basis of bodybuilding.

I for one HATE squats! But i manage to do them anyway .. my all time favorite exercise has to be a bench press, or a deadlift.. you gotta love those deadlifts!

I am by no means a big guy, but I still get compliments and questions about mainly two areas: back thickness (and traps) and leg developement. My answer: Squats and deadlifts, squats and deadlifts...there are no substitutes!

I'll bump for squats. I used to hate them, but once I started doing them, they quickly became my favorite. The intensity is just fucking incredible when I get in the zone. I actually built a somewhat useful squat rack out of a few bricks lying around in my garage so I didn't have to keep heaving that weight over my head and onto my shoulders. I did this after I couldnt get the weights back over my head and was stuck without a spotter... but thats another story.
