Depends on you bro. I get nothing but a shoulder workout with barbell bench. I switched to dumbells and my chest grew like it never had before. For me dumbells isolate my chest, something barbell couldn't do. It is a personal thing though. Play around with it. You are bound to find a routine that best fits you. For me I do Dumbell presses for three weeks and then one week with barbell. Works very well.

barbell works soulders with chest but do reps not to fast or it will be only shoulder. thats how it was for me. I like the bar and DB but with DB presses don't use too heavy weight. get the stretch and squeeze the chest good. both are great excercises. I rotate every 4 weeks or so. sometimes i mix them together.

I must have a chest like Beezers because when I use a bar, 90% of my work is shoulders. I can not seem to focus on my chest with the bar as much as I can with dumbbells.

I think it depends on what you want to get out of it. For me I went to dumbbels for a while to see if it would up my bar bench. I went up in weight with dumbbels. I figured my bar bench would of improved also, but after 2 months of nothing but dumbbels I went back to the bar. I found that I could control the bar a lot better, but I was weak as hell. I lost about 25# off my bench. Now I do dumbbels after the bar for a good stretch.

Barbells are easier to keep good form. But I think both are equally awsome. Use what you like best.

I have a split and use both equally at different inclines. The bar works my outsides an the DBs work the insides. Variety is key.

Im gonna have to agree with Sour Jerk, both are important, bench is a strenth movement while useing dumbells isolate the pecks better.it all depends on what your goals are.
